Yeah, just change the title to:

"Rockets had the best rookie class in 2007"

Re-read it with that title in mind and go ahead and throw Durant's stat line in there if you feel like it.

Now can we all agree with crash?

It might be one of the best rookie classes of all time, and it started late in the first round.

    That just doesn't happen.

    Morey is KING.

I would say based on value in proportion to what teams usually get production wise out of late 1st round picks, it might be one of the best.

I think the sonics had the best class. Whenever you get a franchise player you get the best class automatically.

Other than hayes and battier every player has come after 07. So in a way since that point morey has done a better job of building then the sonics.

Also I battier was likely a morey/jvg pick. I know how CD loves shoot for those high risk high potential players.

Durant and Green were taken 2 and 5, you expect them to be what they are...

Brooks and Landry were taken while most other teams were reaching for Euro talent and potential players.

To get 2 studs that late means the Rockets had the best draft period. Do you know what the success rate on finding a decent player that late in the draft is? And then consider we end up with 2 guys playing at this kind of level?

It was either extreme luck or Morey's magic speadsheet came through big time.

Do you have any idea what is meant by "best draft period"? It's not who had the best draft for what picks they had, or who did the most with the least; it is who's was better than everyone elses...

Are you saying if you could have Durant and Green you wouldn't give brooks/landry/scola? Because if you aren't than it isn't the best.

Nope, strongly disagree. You had the best draft if you did the most with what you had to work with, and the Rockets did just that. Consider if the draft was reheld, you think Brooks and Landry wouldn't be lottery picks?

You think the Thunder wouldn't consider Carl Landry over Jeff Green?

Sure Durant is a special player, but to say the Thunder absolutely had the best draft just because they got him is ignorant.

Scola was part of the rookie talent acquisition of 2007. There is that better? No argument about that. Rockets clearly had the best rookie talent acquisition of 2007.

Durant was the best rookie of 2007, period. But when you have the 2nd pick in the entire draft you are suppose to hit a home run. When the 26th pick is your 1st you are suppose to be lucky just to find someone good enough to finish their rookie contract with out you wanting to cut them. Morey acquired 3 rookies that were all drafted 26th or worse and all 3 are gems.

Right now based on what I am seeing Scola, Landry and Brooks (as a group) are having just as big of an impact as Durant and Green (as a duo). Certainly our 2007 trio has outplayed the OKC duo in head to head match ups this year.

As far as 2007 Rookie Talent Acquisitions, the Houston Rockets had the best class of rookies from that year.

Would you say a team that got 2 non-allstar starters and a good bench player in the 1984 having the best draft?

This is where you are dead wrong. They had the best "bang for the buck", they did not under any circumstances have the best class of rookies.

Well I suppose I wouldn't say the Rockets got the best players, but its pretty damn close.

If you're grading the draft, the Rockets get an A+... so I'd say they had the best draft.

At the time, I was excited about Scola but I was pretty disappointed that we burned a first rounder on a midget point guard. I figured whoever the undersized 4 they got in the second round was, he'd be a no-IQ scrub. I thought that feeling was confirmed when Morey totally lowballed the guy into signing a one-year rookie deal.

Scola worked out just as I'd hoped. I was really wrong on Brooks. I was insanely, off-my-rocker wrong in my assumption about Landry. That one offseason essentially brought in this year's core. It remains the basis of all the "Morey is a genius" talk and deservedly so.

Who had better better? You can argue OKC but our guys have out played them as a whole IMO.
