Jeremy Lin: C+ Terrible start, decent end. Didn't exceed expectations given his contract. That needs to change next season. James Harden: B+ Definitely exceeded expectations. But no A because Defense is nonexistant, and he completely faded in the second half of the season. Chandler Parsons: A- Exceeded expectations. No many complaints here. Defense had a slight dropoff. Omer Asik: A- Exceeded expectations. Again no complaints here. Offensively needs to improve, shaky hands.
May I say, we have a damn good core. An improving, solid PG, two star wings, and a quality center, which is a rare commodity in the NBA. All we need now is a power forward.
I agree, our point guard can one day play like **** and another day play like an all star. But inconsistency is also a look at capability. He's capable of putting up those number and maybe his ludicrous contract is a foresight in his play level, maybe he'll elevate his game in his final year and we'll beat the heats in the championship *drool* our core is damn good and they are still improving. the sky's the limit
Good grades, but I felt like some of the later ones were based solely off end of season performances. Anybody else remember those few weeks where T-Robb was playing very well, and Garcia hardly came off the bench? I absolutely loved Garcia's performance in the post-season, but saying he was as valuable as Harden or Asik is kind of insane. Especially since there is very little chance Morey brings him back next season.
Are these grades all on a curve ?? We were basically an average team. I would think our team average grade should be around a C.
I can't believe that people are still confused about this: Lin's CAP HIT is 8.3m and works like that when talking about the organization, trades, and Morey's general everything. And it's like that for all three years, he is metaphorically getting paid that much due to his contract. However Lin actually gets PAID by Les Alexander ~5m this year. There's a difference, even though a small one. And this has been mentioned before but Mike Conley 2013: 14/6 http://hoopshype.com/salaries/memphis.htm : ~$7m If you want a starter PG that can get you 13/6, he'd be on a rookie contract. Everyone else pretty much gets paid ~$8m or more. Mike Conley was considered overpaid at the beginning of his contract and now people are calling him a steal. So for Mike Conley's 14/6 on ~$7m, that's considered a steal. So why is Lin's 13/6 (15/6 post ASB) at ~$8m not considered a steal? Not to mention Lin pays for himself via the money he's bringing in for the Rockets.
Yeah, Lin brings so much revenue to the NBA in general, not just the Rockets. He is not overpaid if you consider that.
I did it based on expectations for each player. Yes its highly subjective, but its just my opinion, take it for watever its worth.
I don't see how anyone could give harden less than an A-. he single handily brought us to the playoffs this year. Even though without him we would have a decent team. I just have a hard time believing we would have broke even this season.
I dont agree that he single handledly took us to the playoffs, the contributions of Parsons, Lin, and Asik all down the stretch were very necessary given his faltering in the back 1/3rd. But theres no doubt that without him, we'd be in the lottery somewhere. Very lucky to have him.
