Damn, "younger D-Wade"? seems like an intriguing pick. Morey loves making picks that people often overlook.
Better than Wafer imo, has better BB IQ and is not a ball hog (probably due to his less than stellar ball handling ability tho ). Not to mention, he has the potential & work ethic to play D, don't think Wafe will ever have that desire.
I think an optimistic comparison to Taylor would be Mitch Richmond. They have similar shooting forms and similar body frames. Hopefully, he can score like Mitch too.
Not a ballhog? Did you listen to any of his post-draft interviews? This guy even makes Wafer sound like a passer.
Jermaine Taylor is doing an interview right now on 610 am in houston. It'll be available in a few minutes online at sportsradio610.com He's going over his strengths and things he needs to improve on, pretty good listen.
I starting to like the guy after this interview... 3rd leading scorer in the nation? And Morey pay $2.5 Mil for this pick? It seems he is the diamond in the rough...
So far love what I am seeing. Seems like a smaller Tyson Chandler with a better skill set. His strengths all play perfectly into the Rockets system and his weaknesses should be lessened (his main weakness was inability to get teammates involved, but said he could distribute if doubled). Transitioning from a somewhat small program in UCF to a bonafide NBA franchise should decrease his selfishness, especially in RA's offense. My favorite line from the scouting report was "Type of player that thrives getting the ball in pressure situations." He made 89% of his shots in the last 5 minutes of games as a junior. That is exactly what the Rockets need.
Still nobody answers the question: why was his draft position so low? what makes other teams away from him?
I'll never forgive Bad Intentions for stealing the middleweight championship of the world from Bernard Hopkins.
