I see this pick as an extra leverage on contract negotiation with wafer.

with 2nd round players, i think our GM is drafting based on best available, not by needs.
maybe all the big men in the 2nd round are bunch of useless stiffs.

Most of the big guys this draft are turrible. I mean after Blake Griffen everyone else is probably on the same level as Dorsey from last year.

I think this is just a good risk pick. You don't give up anything, you take a risk and maybe he turns into a solid player.

Once in a thousand you get a real gem like Boozer in the 2nd rd.

If that happens - shout hallelujah!

Or like others suggested/speculate that these picks could be used for a big trade that would net the Rockets an all star. Remember last year, Donte Green was one of the important piece that brought Artest to Houston. Hope lightning strikes twice.

Well this clears Morey's secret agenda

The Rockets and Suns trade happens..

Rockets send McGrady, Brook and Landry to Phoenix

    for

    Stoudamire and Barbosa to Rockets

While Acquiring Chase, Lull and Taylor from the draft last night

Chase takes over for Brooks at the PG position

Taylor takes over for Landry at the PF position

Let Lull stay with his powerhouse for the next couple of years...

Well this would be my best guess.. sounds good?

I think Taylor is going to be the steal of the draft ...
but isn't Chase a SG and Taylor a SF?

    Close, lol.

    Lowry/Barbosa/Taylor
    Taylor/McGrady
    Battier/Budinger
    Scola/Landry
    Yao/Hayes

We need to flip Barbosa for a backup C.

Also, this above roster is obviously if we didn't sign Artest and Wafer.

James White is more insurance then someone they can point to as pushing for the SG spot against Wafer and Artest. You'd have a stronger threat with Barry if his shot has returned to form.
