So with Jermaine Taylor and James "Flight" White... anyone else think Wafer might be let go? Those would be 2 great backup 2's next year. Or are they trying to use White as a 3? Either way, I think this says that Wafer/Artest will not be our 2 guards next year. Bleeding RED since 1980
I like Taylor. His size, speed, and hands should make him a nice compliment for the team. I expect him to develop on the scout team, and who knows, by the end of the season, he might be competing with Andre Davis and David Anderson for second string wide receiver! He will likely start at the slot, but might get some touches for jump ball corner/sideline routes (great leaper). Good pick up for the Texans! Seriously, I like what DM has done. Sometimes the mark of a good GM is not the trades you make, but the trades you don't. No sense in wasting money/salary, future draft picks, or proven NBA contributors in a very weak draft! These guys chance of making the team is almost the same for most players picked in the first round!
Anyone think that this can be another Donte Green situation? Give Taylor the green light in summer league to score and shoot as much as poosible, let him look like an amazing scorer, and then sell while his stock is high. He looks like he can do that.
flight white isn't ready for big minutes this upcoming season...i'd say taylor is more ready than White. I think Taylor is wafer insurance or wafer replacement...as good as wafer has been for us scoring-wise, he's still somewhat predictable and has trouble when the defense is set...taylor has the ability to shoot as well as wafer, but is possibly more athletic and stronger.
i have to admit i haven't seen Taylor play a lot, i've liked what i've seen though and i'm trying to think what NBA player he's comparable to....sometimes these online scouting sites have terrible comparisons.......anyone who's familiar with him, would a shorter J-rich be about right?
that also doesnt make sense- why in the world didn't the rockets buy LA's 29th pick for 1 million? Why would LA offer a late first rounder from 500k-1mil when 2nd round picks are costing 2.5 mil. That story was prolly a bunch of BS. NY gets #29 for 3 mil- that makes the 2.5 for the 32nd seem about right.
well, LA selling the pick does make it easier for them to resign odom and i forget who else, was it ariza? Anyway, maybe houston just didnt want to help them out..
my point was that LA never offered the pick for 500k or w/e, they sold it for 3mil- the seemingly accurate market price. I can understand why they sold it- weak draft, guaranteed contract, and like you said, they need the money for their FAs
The fact that Taylor is being compared to Stuckey and is regarded as the 2nd best scorer this draft next to Curry gives me a lot of hope. However, as a team looking to win immediately, I'm still interested in seeing what we can do trade wise. Regardless, welcome to the Rockets Jermaine.
