For 26 year old Giannis? Absolutely.

For 30 year old Giannis? Probably not. And this is assuming theyll want picks plus another player.

Rockets aren't trading for Giannis. It isnt happening. It just doesnt work on both sides.

it’s not gutting the team because forward is a position of strength we have …

    Alpi for Giannis = Upgrade
Cam = doesn’t play anyway he’s in doghouse
Tari or Bari …we still have DB and Amen so one of them leaving makes it easier on Ime (I’m thinking Tari is gone, cause Bari can be our small ball C and stretch floor)

Ime only went 7-8 deep during playoffs - we will need a backup SG (hopefully Beasley)

Actually, it's much easier to solve Sengun and Giannis spacing issues. The problem is you have a 3-year window to solve it before Giannis declines and he will not decline like Lebron or Durant or Curry. He will decline like Westbrook and Wade and those athletic types who need to go downhill and be surrounded by 4 shooters.

Sengun shot 37.5% from 3 in the playoffs. He's been working on his jumper for 2 summers and has had decent stretches. He has a better touch and more arc from 3 than Amen. He has a higher FT% than Amen. The likelihood that Sengun will develop a 3pter by next season is significantly higher than Amen.

Further, to have a C be able to stay out of the paint is FAR more important to Giannis' game than it is for your wing to be able to stay out. Amen's defender can leave him on the perimeter and harass Giannis with little to no risk. Sengun's defender can't leave Sengun open in the mid range to go harass Giannis, that will be leaving an easy 2 open under the rim. Even if/when Amen can shoot, we have to have a 5 who can both protect the rim and stay out of the paint (so there's an additional cost associated with sticking to Amen). That's an extremely rare archetype and very difficult to acquire. If Sengun can pop out, your other 3 starters can be regular archetypes and we have many of them on the team already (Green, Brooks and FVV are all very good catch and shooters who can defend). You can build this team under the 2nd apron.

If we're talking purely about fit, Sengun is the better fit than Amen. There's nothing Amen does that Giannis can't do except that Amen can defend guards better and Giannis can defend bigs better. Going downhill, making a defensive impact, being a secondary passer, rebounding, shot blocking, midrange jumper at 45%, you name it.

So as far as solving spacing issues, the best you can do with Amen and Giannis is surround them with 3 shooters. That's still one of the worst spaced teams in the league with 2 non-shooters on the floor for a majority of the game. Have you seen Giannis in a crowded half court? It's not the Giannis from the highlights and it's not the stats you look at.

Look I'm for acquiring Giannis, but people are dreaming if they think it's possible to have Amen and Giannis and not see Giannis' efficiency and numbers decline significantly. Paired with his athletic decline, this ship will sink a lot faster than people think. If you want to win a title before he declines, the answer is not to pair Amen and Giannis. Giannis will be a placeholder till someone else is good enough to win it for us. That's the absolute worst path in the world for Giannis, if you're his agent you're not looking to make his life harder than it's ever been in his final 3 prime years.

I AM NOT ADVOCATING TRADING AMEN. Just want to make that clear. I'm just saying: we're still going to struggle to be a top 10 offense and that's a minimum requirement for being a real contender. We're going to be banking on Amen improving his 3, and if we had that we would have beaten the Warriors anyway and we wouldn't be talking about touching the core.

Exactly !!! I’m not ruining this rebuilding with an aging player !! He Giannis relay on athleticism and I don’t think he will age well

Does Giannis carry us in the 4th quarter offensively when we need buckets? Felt like that was our issue this past playoffs, but I have not really watched Giannis much since the Harden Rockets era.

Everyone not named Amen should be available. I’m a huge Sengun fan but I’m a Rockets fan first.

The guy is Shaq in the 4th Q. He attacks the rim and draws fouls at minimum and tries to bull his way and shoots 50% at the rim at maximum

i don't think it's crazy that a player who shoots <50% from the field, <65% from the free throw line, and <25% from 3pt is not "untouchable"...

Anyone is touchable as long as you can get a better fit for the team. Alpi is a fantastic asset. He is underpaid for the things he brings for the team. It doesn't mean we should keep him.

Interesting take about ALP being a better fit than Amen, and I tend to agree. The best version of Amen will also occupy the same space as Giannis - Areas where he can utilize his downhill pressure and not in the dunker's spot. Giannis is amazing, but not with Amen or Alp, and not with this Rocket's team.

People are so desperate to win now, which I get. Improve the weaknesses on offense with lesser moves and focus on building a balanced roster without so much duplicative skillsets.

There is going to be a lot of crying again when outside forces of the universe, for the 5th year in a row, push for Sengun.

This. Leaked story to get PHX thinking their picks are going bye-bye.

FVV + 1 phx pick for KD

giannis might be the most inappropriate superstar for this team, houston is one of the worst shooting teams in the league, if giannis is coming the roster needs to change, a lot of first round picks and young players... if giannis is coming the goal should definitely be the finals otherwise it will be meaningless

If the Rockets do get Giannis, they might as well go and get KD.
