Yeah, the cameras suck here. And of course the idiot mayor said "there will be no quota for the cameras" Well, the city put out their initial list of intersections and about half of them got bounced by the red light camera vendor because they wouldn't produce enough revenue. One of Lubbock's state reps., Carl Isett, has been working to get ALL traffic enforcement by camera BANNED. However, one of the big problems is that once the cities with cameras get a taste of the additional revenue, they will do everything in their power to skirt state law and lobby lawmakers (especially Dems) to vote to keep the cameras legal. One of the biggest problems in this country is that we have too much trust in the governments.
Yeah. Imagine doing that for all the turns from your house and back. FYI, stopping a lot is bad for fuel economy. You have to burn more fuel to get back up to speed from a full stop (due to static friction). It's recommended to run at a steady pace to maximize fuel. Jesus...
This thread is such a tease...every time I come across it, my mind automatically reads "Houston red light district"...and then I get really excited.
Thank you. Not to turn this into a D&D subject but other than FDR's New Plan, name one other time Gov't has done a good job. For the love a Christ, leave s***alone.
Ok this might be a little bit off topic. When you run a red light and the camera flashes.. when exactly do they start flashing? Does it just start flashing if it senses motion after the light turns red? I like to speed up and beat a yellow, but 1 out of 10 says that the light turns red as I'm pretty much half way through the intersection. If that were in an intersection with a camera, will I get ticketed?
