You heard of Gurrella Black? His voice sounds almost identical to Biggie's....except his rhymes are so weak that I refuse to listen to any of his songs. Shyne also sounds similar to Biggie and he's pretty weak too. He had so much hype because he was behind bars and everybody thought he was "Gangsta".
You lost ALL credibility here Em and Nas are the very DEFINITION of Overrated Lyricist Scarfare IMHO is the best at DA ART OF STORYTELLIN' Minute to Pray Second to Die Go pick up The Dairy again Rocket River " . .. d*mn youngsters . .. think music started in 2003" - Grumpy old rap man
Nas had one great album. Everything else has been decent, but not spectacular. The problem for him, and what sort of defines his career (unfairly), is that he peaked early, and no album he will ever do can touch Illmatic. It's too bad for him, because some of Nas' later stuff is great lyrically, but I look at him more like a Patrick Ewing type -- a great rap artist, but not up with the very top. Eminem is in no way overrated as a lyricist. His stuff might not be all that deep, or it might be a lot of fluff, or just humorous, or even "shocking" for the sake of shock-value, but he has some of the most creative and best-rhyming lyrics out there.
Are you serious? How can I lose all credibility when you say Scarface is the best at storytelling? Have you ever heard of Biggie? How can Nas be overrated when he dropped 2 classic albums...and don't say Stillmatic wasn't great. If you listen to "Rewind" and "Poison" on that album, you can kiss goodbye to Scarface as the "best at DA ART OF STORYTELLIN". When I broke down the catergories of how lyrics should be interpreted, storytelling was only a part of it and not the whole package. Eminem has made countless masterpieces like "Renegade", "Mockingbird", "Stan", "Lose Yourself", "Way I Am", not to even mention the whole Eminem Show CD, and you say he's overrated? Come on man, how are you going to come here and diss my opinion when you have minimal knowledge about lyrics. I bet you never heard the full Stillmatic CD or The Eminem Show. Again, through this whole thread, I was only stating my opinion and you act like I'm wrong if I don't agree with you. If you don't agree, that's fine, just stop acting like a d*mn a**hole and state your own opinion without bashing the other person.
hahahahahahahaahahahahahhahahahaa did i hurt your feelings. . .i sowwy The Dairy is a Classic Illmatic was good. . . I didn't feel it Maybe Scarface rhymes to my heart and em and Nas to yours Nas has some good tracks but overall nothing just AWE INSPIRING Em I like Stan . . I like Lose Your Self and I think one more stands out .. . but the rest is. . .just is I'm not as impressed by wordplay and clever twists as most I delve deeply into the meaning and feeling of a song Stan - deep story . . .complete . . .no need to wordplay - Great song I mean . . hell I like nice lines and metaphors. . but I don't like them to the sake of trying to sound clever or humorous BUT to push along the song in a meaningful way For instance Jay-Z . . not a big fan of his but he has some NICE imagery and metaphors and clever usages of words When I hear something like that I give props "I fed her 50s until her sh*t made sence" - Jay Z THAT IS A GREAT LINE to me "If I die now my love would still Haunt you" - Mace GREAT LINE Not a big mace fan . . . . . but I have to give it up for that line To each his own I'm ancient school FUNNY STORY Me and my friend were talking about the changing times He said he realized he was old .. when he was at the barber shop [in Miami] Young Bob makes the statement "50 Cent is the TUPAC of our generation" My friend said he nearly fell out of his chair and reacted like "WHAT THE HELL?!" Poor young Bob was startled mightily. He said he had to collect himself. . . . and apologize Rocket River . . .waxing on like us old men do . . . .
