If you look at my previous response, I gave the areas where I rate lyrics. I know that Tupac brings a lot of energy and vocal presence, but I'm not talking about how good the rapper is. I'm talking about his lyrics alone. While these lyrics aren't bad, they just don't have the rhyming structure and wordplay that Eminem has. Oh well, we will agree to disagree. :)

I'm actually a fan of Mike Jones. My buddy had his cd and I liked like 4 or so songs on the cd. I play it when I'm out bar hoping.

I also left out Devin The Dude. I wasn't thinking about making a whole list at first, but after naming a few rappers, I just listed all the ones on the top of my head.

I have given my explanation, so why don't you give me yours? What do you mean by asking anyone who knows? I used to be a rapper and won 4 battles on this TV show called "Icehouse". I think I know at least a little bit about lyrics. I was on rap forums like Sohh.com and Rapmusic.com and people do have different opinions. I promise you the response wouldn't be that bad at all. :D

Actually the rappers who were around him a lot, said that someone who was on the inside and close to him, poisoned his cup of barre that night

I think Pac was highly overrated. In my opinion people like him because he did not give a crap. he said anything he wanted, but i guess thats why he is dead. Em is a lyrical beast, but not better than Big. Im a big Hova fan so what do I know.

When I think of good rap lyrics, I approach it with a view that it's art, I don't really think rhyming structure and word play. It's like how some guitarists in the 80's can write and play some crazy technical piece, but the over all effect is just doesn't hold a candle to some of the simpler tunes of the Beatles and Stones.

Once you start looking at lyrics through it's formula, you will fail to see the soul of the songs themselves. I will go on to say Em's one of the best lyrist today and he wrote some very good songs with pieces of himself in it. But you can't just say it's the superior because of the amazing amount of soul I feel in Tu-Pac's lyrics even if they aren't the most technically sound.

That said, it's only my opionion, art for the most part is subjective.

I assume that you know a lot about mixing/editing and quality of songs. I want to send you a few of my songs and get your opinion on the quality of them and see if you like the tracks. If you have AIM, drop your screen name, if not, then give me your email or something.

Wow, that is exactly the opposite of my opinion . . . literally, the exact opposite.

IMO, Biggie is the one who's overrated, at least as a rapper. Eminem is awesome, lyrically, but 2Pac is number 1. He set the standard by which every other rapper is judged. wizkid is right on, IMO. I think part of why Pac's lyrics are so good is because of how he raps them. You can read Em's lyrics and get a lot of the feeling, emotion, humor, whatever from them. But while 2Pac's lyrics may not necessarily read as well, he says them with such style and emotion that they are on a whole other level.

I'm pretty sure you will have to know at least some mixing/editing skills before they want you there. I don't think anybody will be nice enough to just let you sit there and teach you stuff that they paid to learn. Oh well, next hurts to ask. :)

I will see what others say and check if they think we need more help. We used to have interns and we would help them out credit wise for college.
