I listen to John and lance from 6 to 11. I love their humor and how they have a good grip on how Houstonians feel. Their show has good emotions. At 11 I like to listen to Rome. He's hilarious and does great interviews. From 2 to 6 I really like Marc and Rich. I find that they stick to sports more than the other shows and I love it when they disagree. At 6 I like to listen to Matt and Adam. their show is AWESOME and they seem like they are having a blast. Adam is easily the smartest guy in sports radio in Houston. I love it that 610 has the Longhorns, Texans, Comets, and Rockets. I am glad they don't have the Astros but still focus a lot of their conversation on the Astros. The baseball season is so long its hard to interrupt programming for EVERY game. I think mornings on 790 are boring and stupid. Dan Patrick is lame. Charlie Palillo can be too pompous and condescending. Carl Dukes's show is just not interesting. that's my 2 cents.
One of those guys on the Fox morning show is the guy whom Jeff started the "Who is this idiot on 790" thread. The one who says "The Houston". He kept referring to the girl as "The Crystal".
Great interviews? He bashes everyone while giving his takes, but then completely sucks up to whoever he is interviewing. Rome is good to listen to for his takes, but I change it whenever he is interviewing anyone. Plus, you have to listen to 5 minutes of him reading e-mails after the interview of how great of an interview it was.
Man, I'd rather listen to Tom Tynan from 6-11 than Matt and Adam. As an Aggie, sportradio 610 already has the moniker "sip10", and it just gets worse when those 2 clowns come on. They do deserve a lot of credit though. They are able to do their show while giving fellatio to vince young all at the same time; props to u guys.
That's what they called him when he was just a caller before he worked there. I've been listening to 610 entirely too long because I remember when he used to call Lance.
i have, too! i remember sports radio before there was a full-time sports radio station here...particularly during the Rockets first championship run. if i remember correctly, Star 610 kicked off in 1995.
Chance, any way you can use some pull and knock off the longhorns as your primary college that you cover. Even though there are a ton of sips in H-town, I think there are equally as many Aggies, not to mention UofH and Rice. 610 allienates too many fans with all the longhorn ball licking.
I too, remember sportsradio 610 back in the day when Kenny and Rich used to have the best show, I think it was called "section 610" or something like that. Rich also used to do the post game show for the Astros. this is when Rich used to actually talk sports. John and Lance's show used to be called the Bench.... the good old days.
"Martini and Edmonds" (on the Rocks) on 950 against the original Sportsbeat on 740. That was the best sportstalk radio has ever been That darned Dan Patrick (local, not national) ruined everything...
I am the chief ball licker. Sorry. We do a show with Hatfield every week with J&L. We do a show with Kim Helton once a week with J&L. The fact remains that there is more Houstonian interest in UT than any college program in the country. Keep in mind that we are an interactive station. Call up and steer the conversation where you want it to go.
That's fine and all, but I think there is another huge fan base in Houston that would like to steer the conversation elswhere, but have previously turned away from 610 b/c of the longhorn lovefest. (I'm referring to the Aggies of course). Just my $0.02
Maybe the Aggies should be in the top 10 consistently before they b**** about not getting as much coverage as the Longhorns. Just my $0.02.
I hear ya, that's what pisses me off the most probably. Even if the tables were turned, y'all would still get more press, always have.
We're working on it. Have to increase the recruits spending budget and free trips to Thailand. I've proposed this to the AD, but they aren't buying it.
BOMC is real. Texas A&M will probably feel the orange slime washed across the state of Texas even more, since we got rid of our journalism program. Bummer.
Sports radio in this city is terrible considering it has 2 stations devoted full-time. The only shows I enjoy listening to are CP's and the afternoon weekend shows on ESPN during football season. I'm not originally from Houston, so I prefer the national coverage over the local, but the national shows are horrible - Rome, Patrick, Cowherd, that lame Sporting News Morning Show - they're all awful.
