Yeah, Zwee even won best new act a year or two ago, and I think Rebecca won best female vocalist last year, so I'm sure they'll have some people there again this year (dontcha hafta have people there voting for you to win the darned thing?).
Speaking of titty shots, I present possibly the greatest invention since the Whizzinator: http://www.hootershooters.com/Page2N.htm Potentially nsfw.
A local artist named Mike Miano made the actual awards for this year's show. I work with him (yes, I'm bragging). The person who wins the Best Bassist or Best Keyboards awards is going to get parts of my old Fender P-Bass. Then I'll demand them back.
P.S. - if you don't have a favorite for the Best Drummer award, and you like the local band Bring Back the Guns, then write-in Thomas Clemmons. He deserves mad props for his drumming. Fo' shizzle.
I don't begin to understand how they decide if you're "new" or not. I've seen bands around 3+ years and suddenly they're in the HP awards for best new band. Go figure.
Bumping this to remind people to come out to this on Sunday - there are alot of great bands and musicians playing. Be sure to swing by the Speakeasy Lounge at 4PM to watch a certain BBSer (I'm not naming any names) play bass.
No problem. It was a blast. Man, I took a ton of pictures! One thing I learned... Even though the camera says you have 259 shots available, you have a LOT more. It started with 259, but I took over 400 without even thinking about it. I guess that is just an estimate.
This was an awesome showcase. The bands I saw and really liked; Bring Back the Guns, Clouseaux, Spain Colored Orange (at Live), Glenna Bell, and this homeless dude singing Willie Nelson songs on the street. Los Skarnales were okay, but not really my thing. Mike Haaga got most of the awards, but I didn't feel like walking from downtown to Verizon to see the show. Plus I was drunk. And I was also drunk.
