I'll let you know that I have witnessed it on more than one occasion in HS. I suggest you:

09 grad right here! Football isn't the only sport out there, Memorial can't beat us in basketball. Rivalry apparently is getting more intense. In the past few days, I've heard SHS students spray painted all over a MHS teacher's car and today a couple SHS student's cars were sprayed painted with MHS written on them, and a couple car's tires were slashed. Good old high school drama...

Pranks by these schools this month:

    Stratford:

Spray paint all over Memorial. Mostly small comments. Spay painted a teacher's car. Had an upside down pinata horse on the roof of of the front office.

    Memorial:

    Brought turkeys into Stratford's bathrooms.

We owned Memorial when I was at Stratford. Our real rivals back then were Elsik and Hastings. In fact some idiot from Hastings shot and killed one of our football players, Herbert Grant, after a game at a party in those condos right behind Tully Stadium. It was pretty crazy back then.

I remember Memorial kids bringing a chicken into the SHS bathroom last year and we sent them a case of fried chicken to their office. They really brought turkeys this year? lol wow

It was pretty easy for Memorial to own Stratford through the 60s and 70s since, I think, Stratford came into being around 1980.

As an MHS grad... high school rivalries are f'n stupid. Especially the MHS/SHS one. That shirt is pretty funny though, but it's not the first one. I remember there being one similar back sometime between '01 and '04.

One of these things is not like the other.

Why the hell would you spray paint a teacher's car? What's funny about that?

i don't think they KNEW it was a teacher's car. it was in the student parking lot as the teacher took the bus with the drill team to get to the game at tully stadium. the stratford kids hit up the memorial parking lot during the game, as i understand it.

    stupid, for sure.

As evidence from this thread and personal experience would suggest, many of these kids take it waaay too seriously.

Thanks for clarifying. I knew that Memorial hadn't been beating up on them since 1962 as the T-shirt claimed and I knew they weren't around when I graduated in 1972.

That disgraced judge, Sam Kent, was a hoopster at Memorial when they won the state title when I was in middle school or thereabouts (1967?). The star of that team, Jerry Kroll, went on to play for Lefty Driesell at Davidson. He may have later coached at Stratford. My freshman year, 1969, we lost to Wheatley (Dwight Jones) in the state title game. I played varsity basketball as a junior in 1971; we were a disgraced 24-10 team.

We were the first MHS varsity basketball team to lose a disrict game in a decade...

... but we never had the chance to beat Stratford. Tate Armstrong was the best player in the district. He later played at Duke and was a first round draft choice of the Bulls (?) who never quite had a significant NBA career.

I want to say fall of 1989. We went to state in 87 and went to the state semis (I think?) in 88. Everyone got pretty sky high to play us back then.
