What the **** is wrong with you people? You blame Obama? that is ****ing r****ded. The president of the united states sent shuttles to LA and NY to stick it to Texas? That is beyond stupid. How many of you have visited Johnson more than once in your life? It's cool to go to but it's not a museum. NASA is really struggling right now. They are closing much of kennedy, leasing space and Johnson has little to do. Putting the shuttles in national museums in big tourist markets is good for NASA. People are putting pride above what is best for NASA and they were the ones that made the decision, not Barak Obama.
Yeah, I don't get it either. If Obama had control, they would be in swing states. This whole "thank you gift" to NY and CA stuff sounds ridiculous to me.
You should know that for not being a museum it has more historical artifacts of space than two of the other places that got a shuttle by far. Nothing like this is made without politics. Do you also believe that the Olympics are granted without regard to politics? How naive are you?
Why not auction those things off to the highest domestic bidder and use the money made to pump back into the space program. Weeps at my idea... Spoiler
http://www.spacecenter.org/ So... these guys are wrong, then. I'll send them your post, señor rey chita.
If Charles Bolden, head of NASA appointed by the President to run his agency, was in charge and made the decision, I find it really hard to start blaming Congressmen and women who really could minimally effect this decision. Even as much as I dislike Shelia Jackson Lee, this wasn't her fault. The blame goes solely to the executive branch, who were the decision-makers on this.
Well It looks like they are picking the JSC apart now. http://www.khou.com/home/NASA-Johns...ght-simulators-other-artifacts-119720729.html
Those "artifacts" are being used and are on the tour of NASA. Better get out there if you want to see them in their real environment and all together.

So this is how the end of Space City comes about... to the sounds of handshakes over backroom political favors.
