We have Pete Olson now, who proposed a bill to "honor the fact-finding reporting done by Hannah Giles and James O'Keefe III in their investigation in the fraudulent and illegal practices and misuse of taxpayer dollars by the Association of Community Organization for Reform Now (ACORN)." The pimp and ho videos that were highly edited.... http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=hr111-809
They should keep the big buses flying until we have a replacement, either from NASA or the private sector. I don't like being dependent on Putin's Russia for anything, except good caviar.
They really put two of the shuttles right there on the east coast, in DC and NY? Why the hell wouldn't they want to distribute it more even? That puts two on the East Coast that aren't very far from each other (relatively speaking), and absolutely nothing in the middle. It would have made sense both geographically and logically, because of how important Houston is to the space program, to put it here. I don't get it. Everyone outside of Houston hate it or something?
This absolutely sucks. Any word on who we can call or email to yell at? I'm finding this to be particularly outrageous. F**king damn politicians all to hell.
Ugh. This is totally lame. I was looking forward to seeing one of them down in H-town. Politics....sucks.
For real. If you read his resume, he sounds like he'd be a reasonable and intelligent guy--potentially a good representative for NASA's interests... but no, he's a total tool. It seems like the only things to his name is this and his support of the birther (i.e. only white people are born in the US!) bill. *Sigh*
Well politics got us JSC in the first place but support for JSC was dependent on having a strong and powerful congressman (i.e. Tom DeLay) in the clear lake area. DeLay is largely responsible for keeping NASA's budget as high as it was as NASA is an easy target for budget cuts since the public doesnt really care about it anymore. Now that he's gone there's no political presence for JSC anymore and things like funding as well as symbolic stuff like the space shuttle wont happen anymore. Kinda crappy that one of the politicians that I truly despise was also critical to protecting an institution that I really love. So in that sense, yes politics blows.
This past year has been so depressing -.- Nothing in America makes sense. Everything from the school system to politics is completely ****ed. I think I would enjoy my life more if I went and lived on a remote island like Tom Hanks........... Then I could forget about all this idiocy and nonsense. America has become a joke.
Florida, Washington- I understand. LA- They do have JPL/Dryden, city of Downey so that is okay as well (Houston is more deserving but they are deserving). New York??- You gotta be ****ing kidding me. Why can't lazy New Yorkers just go to Washington to see it?
payback's a b**** When the big money and politics of your whole state is polarized against the Executive Branch, why would you think they would do you any favors? Putting a shuttle in in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio wouldn't buy one electoral college vote.
California is also on the left coast so it is more accessible. Smithsonian and JSC are the most capable of displaying and presenting the shuttle. Houston got totally shafted, without lube.
No one does this to buy electoral college votes. You wont win statewide elections on shuttle placement. Obama gets absolutely nothing from this. This is Congressmen and other influential political figures from specific districts using their leverage to get the shuttle in their district or area. It's akin to how politicians get funding for projects in their local districts in appropriations bills. This is simply an "our politicians" weren't as influential as theirs.
"Our" politicians are raging FOX sound bites. Electoral College votes go to the winners of the State's Presidetial election. Texas has been written off by the Democratic Party. New York and California have huge blocks of electoral college votes that have not.
Exactly. I don't think that this has anything to do with the executive branch. Else, they would have been put in swing states.
