fair enough...that still doesnt touch on the diversity and more international vibe houston offers moreso than Austin.

This is a good point, the one thing that Austin does not have is places like Little India, or China town etc.

There is not a decent curry house in all of Austin.

Fortunatly our HQ is in Manchester England so I get to go there a few times a year and satisfy that jones.

This racism claim is ridiculous. Every city has it groups of people that dont like to mingle. Ive been to places in Houston where I couldnt believe the the racist comments coming out of peoples mouths until I went to Dallas and those comments were definitely one upped. Their are plenty of spots to go in Austin where you find a melting pot of people.

Anyways as much as I love the Rockets, I love live music. Going to a live music show is much cheaper than a Rockets game. It is also a 10 minute drive to downtown for me, which is actually far compared to most people I know in the area. Sports on TV is much better than music on TV, so I can drive to Houston whenever I want to catch a Rockets game.

Barton Creek Greenbelt is an amazing area to relax, having just moved to Austin from Corpus Christi, it gives me a nice alternative getaway the beach I miss and long for from Corpus. Their are many water holes, springs and hideout spots to get you out of the heat during the hot summer. Their is also Lake Travis in the area as well as New Braunfels for your river floating needs.

I have never lived in Houston and the only reason I would ever consider it is because of the Rockets. I go to Houston several times a year as I have family in the area but could never live in such a large city. Plus crime is horrendous, I would be scarred to leave my home after the horror stories Ive heard from friends and family in the area.

Houston is a great city, that I love visiting, the architecture and museums are great. But Austin is the city for me, and as other have said, the woman, OMG, go downtown and you will find that 1 out of 10 are girls are overweight, the rest are tend to be 7s or better. Literally they all look as good in the day as they do at 2am.

Crime rate, cleanliness of city, education level, health and wellness level of population, surrounding environment, etc. would be my guess.

All of that and more, ...not to mention we are not going to have any of those hurricanes coming to Austin, by the time they got here, it would be a nice tropical storm.

    Agreed.

There is a racist douche playing the minority pity card everywhere you go these days. It's infuriating and depressing. In this case, Mummywrap. No point in even arguing with those type of people. So I say again:

I do miss that one asian restaurant DT Houston. I forget what it's called as I haven't been there in a few years. But it's fairly popular.

3 people are actually using fat people living here as a point against Houston?

There are lots of skinny people of the opposite sex that live here if that is your bag, but I can't believe that just cause there are a few people like me walking around that we bring the aesthetic value of the whole friggin city down THAT much.

When they cited that Austin is "healthier" than Houston, I read it as Austin being less polluted than Houston, not less fat. I could be wrong though.

so your claim is that because you can walk from bar to bar night life is better. that's a personal preference, we know Houston is scattered.

How can the racism claim be rediculous if there are people here living in Austin that are even admitting it? Why did so many businesses shut down during the Texas Relays?

Plenty of melting pots of people in Austin? Name some.

Are you a minority that lived in Austin?

I mentioned racial "segregation" in my (somewhat long) post on the first page of this thread. I am white. Austin is a rather racially segregated city. It used to be more pronounced in the central part of the city than it is now.

That is NOT to say that Austin is a more "racist" city than Houston. There is a difference.

    Awww, somebody is upset. :(

    "Those types of people." LMAO!!

Seriously, Austin is segregated. I even listed a community of minorities for ya.

AGAIN, why did so many businesses shut down because of the Texas Relays?

Instead of calling me names, answer the question?

I wasn't refering to your post.

I don't think the segregation can be denied.

As far as the racism goes, I don't think one single business would have shut down if the Texas Relays were held here in Houston.

I have friends that will never visit Austin again due to the way they were treated there during the Relays.

there is a better international food scene in houston, but i wouldn't move back for that.

this poll is basically people in houston repping houston and vice versa. I've lived in both places like you, so our votes are more important..
    plus we are 99ers
