Or people who absolutely hate Houston... I've lived in both, austin is by far ages ahead... more intelligent people, more outdoor, more music, cleaner, etc etc etc etc

That's my opinion, some feel Houston is better and I understand, houston has the rockets

maybe per capita, but do you really think austin has "more intelligent people" than the energy, engineering, and medical capital of the world? c'mon.

like i said earlier, a more apt comparison between the two cities would be austin to inner loop houston... the two are strikingly similar.

This is a better basis for an argument, although Houston is still flat. :p

I'm very pretty to this thread, but been spending some time in Austin for work and really dig the vibe. Would love to make it up there. Moreover, love natural beauty, and you just can't get some of the below views in Houston.

Lived in Houston my whole life until coming up to Austin for school last Fall.

It's kind of a draw for me. I love the music scene Austin brings but I also extremely miss the sports factor from Houston.

so true. Austin keeps their small number of browns east of 35 and away from the rest of town

Not anymore. We've let them migrate west as far as South Mopac and Leander up north......or is it that us whiteys are migrating east more? ;)

You are more likely to end up dead in the trunk of a car or dead in a yogurt shop after being shot with the yogurt shop set on fire in Austin than Houston. In Houston, you might as well just die and float down Buffalo Bayou. LOL.

    Take your pick, man. lol

I just used those examples cause I remember them being big news in both towns at various times.

I would probably go with Austin. I've lived in both places. Austin is more for the nature loving outdoors type imo. Houston is more for those who like to be punished by local sports teams and traffic. ;)

If you like Austin now, you should have seen it in the late 70s/early 80s. It would have stole your heart. Imagine everything cool about Austin but with half the population, and almost no illegal aliens. It was a Garden of Eden.
