plenty of people at the time condemned it. but if it will make you feel better i will state the obvious - what highland park mall did was wrong. get over yourself. there are plenty of places in houston where DWB will get you pulled over. i would argue more than austin has. did "austin" close down the mall or did the people who run the mall? how is austin more segregated than any other city? and as far as racism, all you can point to is one incident at a mall and again, i dont know anyone who supported that move. its idiotic to say a city is racist b/c highland mall closed down during the texas relays.
Congrats. You say you are stating the obvious, but I must say that all Austinites so far don't think so. Instead I've been called names. But seriously, thank you for saying that the Mall closing down was wrong. Really? DWB will get you pulled over when most cops I see are Black or Hispanic? Austinites closed the mall. And this brings me to my point. I think the people of Houston are just much better human beings. They are friendlier and more accepting. If Austin isn't racist, why did People of Austin shut the mall down and other businesses aswell?
The most ignorant thing I've heard all day, congrats, you've manage to not only make yourself sound annoying but also stupid!
"We have people here from Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, the Middle East, the Philippines; even among the Chinese there's enormous diversity in cultures and languages," says Chang, who immigrated three decades ago from Taiwan. Wow. Even our Chinatown is diverse!! "Today, new Chinatown boasts nearly two dozen shopping malls, hundreds of restaurants and an astounding number of major, mainstream banks. The street signs are in English, Chinese and Vietnamese." I'm thinking "most ignorant thing you have heard all day" is indeed fact. Yet another FAIL by you. I'll forgive you if you start talking about how Houston's job market is so great again.lol
you have turned an originally civil discussion of the differences of two cities into a one man douchefest. congrats
Aww, calling me names again? That's not very nice. So basically, it's ok for Austinites to crap all over Houston, saying everyone here is fat, stuck in traffic, and are all criminals, but when I state my opinions and even present facts about Austin, it's uncivil? The only think uncivil is the people like you who feel the need to call me names because you get butthurt.
that's right dude. we got something called the Close the Crappy Mall Emergency Referendum in the mail. We all voted for it and the bill passed and so therefore on Texas Relays we decide to close all the crappy malls but leave the nice ones open. we also have anti Houstonian day, where the cops go after anyone wearing Astros or Texans gear. Rockets gear is exempt cause I told city council about Clutch City and what it meant to the world and how there are fake fans in Houston who love Tracy McGrady who deserve to be in jail instead of Vernon Maxwell. All Tracy McGrady fans deserved to be whipped regardless of race, city, or 5th grade education. yup.
i think you being called names has more to do w/ the way you are acting than the content of your message. most cops are black or hispanic? - everyone in austin is racist? you have a really bad habit of overgeneralizing everything. but yes, take a drive in river oaks or the rice area and see what happens. im an austinite and i didnt close the mall. you dont seem all that friendly or accepting yourself. if you act the way you post i can understand why people wouldnt like you. did the people of austin shut down the mall or did the mall shut down the mall?
you have spent this entire thread calling everyone in austin names. is that nice? ive read this entire thread and i didnt see a post saying 'everyone is fat' or houston is "all criminals". but why is it wrong to generalize houstonians, but its ok for you to say everyone in austin is racist? you have spent this entire thread calling a whole city names. does that mean you are butthurt too?
yes you are. no you didnt liar. as i have shown, you have spent the entire thread saying the exact opposite. if you want to play the race card to the degree that you are and call an entire city and all its residents racist that is your business, but you just come off like an idiot when you do so.
this mummywrap character clearly has never been to a honkytonk bar deep in the boonies in the dozens of little towns surrounding Houston. the type of scene when the needle on the record scratches and the jukebox stops playing when anyone out of place enters.
http://blogs.houstonpress.com/rocks/2010/07/last_night_trae_day_at_northwe.php TRAE DAY at Northwest Mall. This boy is not wearing a shirt. When is SPM day at Memorial City Mall?
why yes, DD, they are. they also have rednecks and racists, as do big cities like Houston and Austin. it's a nasty side of the silly discussion that is going on here between two great Texas towns.
I just like getting out to Luckenbach and having a beer with a bunch of friendly bickers under a massive oak grove. DD
