Those guys never felt like my guys. They felt like a rebuild for a completely different city.

I still wear a Luv Ya Blue-era Oilers jacket my aunt gave me as a gift a few years ago, but I was a little kid during that time and my grandparets had season tickets. I even titled my album "Kick It In." For me, it was the first tme I remember really getting caught up in sports. It was a special time and a very special team.

But as soon as it was official that Bud was moving on for a sweeter deal for his pockets, I lost interest. I didn't support them in their last Zombie year in the dome, and sure as hell not in Tennessee. I started watching more college and tried like others to like the Saints.

Since I moved away from Houston, it took me years to take to the Texans right away, but I'm a serious fan now, and they earned my respect.

I was with them until they changed "Oilers", and loosely kept with that team through their Super Bowl run.

I wasnt even living in United States when they moved away. I visited Tennessee around that time and didnt hate them, knew a couple people there at the time, so I felt I could be a "consultant" about the team.

Really mostly, I needed a team on Madden to play with so I stuck with them in the franchise mode.

It was just 1/10th of the usual interest. I became more a college football fan. When they changed to the Titans it was pretty much overnight apathy. I was still happy for Steve McNair when they went on their Super Bowl run, liked "The Freak" Jevon Kearse. (I was never gonna buy merchandise or apparel from them, that much I boycotted)

But the way their Super Bowl ended .... (I wasnt even dejected. That Rams team was best thing to happen to football in a while. The Kurt Warner story is better than anything the Titans could ever be about), and knowing a new team in Houston was a possibility, everything peaked and blew apart the same time. Was just poetically perfect timing to dump all ties for good.

And I stopped following ALL NFL after that. Until the Texans arrived.

Instaf**kntaneous. Bud Adams can suck a sloth and it would still take a lifetime for me to get over him. F**king hate that old fart.

Side note, Bob McNair owns, so I'm glad B*t*h Adams is gone, and we get the throwback uni's.

I rooted for the cowboys as soon as the oilers left because I wanted to root for a team in Texas but they stunk in the late 90s. I thank bob McNair for bringing football back to Houston. Love kickn bud Adams fball teams behind everytime we play them. Its tough sometimes to root for us but at least we have a team.

I still continue to be an Oilers/Titans fan....

first, I no longer live in Houston - the family moved in my teens , when the oil economy went in the toilet (80's)... but I continued to my support of 'my team' - regardless of my location. I figured, how can I fault the team for moving, when I no longer lived there either....

secondly, Steve McNair, Eddie George, etc.... These were the guys I cheered for as Houston Oilers, should I disown them because the franchise moved? Nope, I continued my support of them and others, which evolved into supporting new players to the franchise, and so on...

third, who should I support... I now live in Las Vegas, so I suppose I cheer whoever covers the spread - lol... but I didn't grow up with the Texans, they're not my local team, and I can't see changing over to a different team who I never liked before....

lastly, I've got waaaaaaaaaay to much memoribillia/gear of Oilers/Titans to ever change teams...lol

It sucks that the Oilers left, but... I was 8 when the team left Houston, and during that time I cared a lot more about basketball than I did football. When you think about it, I've been a Texans fan a lot longer. So I feel a much stronger connection to the Texans. All that Oiler history isn't exactly mine, but I have been a Texans fan since Day 1... literally. Not many fans can say that about their team. As a fan, I think it's awesome to know that 50 years from now I'll be able to tell my grandkids that I've seen it all.

You must be a fan of the Steroid Era. It's only more exciting now because of fantasy football, and rule changes that have made it more passing friendly which makes every kid want to be a QB. Low scoring football games are still exciting to me.

I was in this crowd as a 13 year old kid and gotta admit it's tough to watch .Bud Adams ripped my heart out and I hated them from the day it was announced ..really didn't watch much NFL until the Texans ,even though I was a lifelong NFL fan . I was at the first Texan's game played in Houston even though I hadn't lived in Houston for over 10 years . When the Texans beat the Cowboys in that first game it was like all was right in the world once again .. I still wish we had our history back though , even with all the heartbreaks .
