Yeah, one of bad sports stories that I honestly can't think any other team has to deal with besides maybe the Cleveland fanbase upset that their old team's players and executives went onto become the Ravens organization and they have been trying to get back to that level after starting from scratch.

Oh and Seattle except they still got to keep the name and records so once they get another team it won't nearly be as bad.

I was a Luv Ya Blue, hard core Oilers fan....and the minute they left town, I was done. I never liked Bud Adams when he was here. I like him less now. Jerk.

I basically said "screw the Tennessee team" as soon as I heard they had gone. I cheer for the "Houston" in a team, not the nickname. Even though I haven't lived in Houston for years, and moved out before the Texans came in, I've slowly become a Texans fan. I doubt I'll ever be a Cowboys fan, no matter how long I live in the DFW area.

Tennessee does have some damn good fried chicken, though ... :p

I cheered for them when they were in the Superbowl. Yeah they were the Titans, but that team was all Oilers top to bottom. I was torn as I didn't want Bud to win a Superbowl, but part of me still wanted that Oiler spirit to win. Once the Texans came around, my fandom for the Oilers/Titans faded

If VY returns to the Oilers, I will retroactively have been an Oiler fan this whole time.

My dad was a season ticket holder and I grew up going to Oilers games (from about 7 years old until I graduated high school in 1995. They died to me the minute they left.

I left for school the same year the Oilers relocated. I guess I was oblivious then to what a prick Bud Adams was/is. Call it youthful bliss.

Rooting from afar has been much more of my experience than as a Houston resident. I still live away from Houston. I'm sure as hell not going to root for the Redskins (The Post says THIS is the year. Fur realz this time) like people do around here at this time of the year.

Cheering for the Titans, Rockets, and Astros is just something I've always done. I know Bud is a jerk and I don't fault Houston for feeling the way they do about him. I guess I just wasn't paying attention to that. Besides, we're the Jazz of football in that we're never winning anything...

The Oilers broke my heart with "The Choke" (aka "The Comeback") and I was done with them immediately after.

Not sure how you can hate the team as soon as they leave...sure, hate Bud Adams, but I dont understand how you could root against Eddie George, Steve McNair, Frank Wychek, etc...when those were the guys that were part of the Oilers.

I still wanted "my" players to do well...but once the Texans came to Houston, the old players/team became enemy #1.

I started losing interest during the Commander Cody season, but as soon as it became obvious they were leaving the team was dead to me.

As soon as they left for Possum Holler. My love for the team went from pure infatuation, to straight up F you hate. I cheered for the Rams in the SB, and when they came up short on that last play, it was one of the most satisfying moments in my sports watching life. We have the Texans now, and all that love I had for the Houston Oilers, is now with the Texans. To tell you the truth, I like the Texans more than I used to like the Oilers.
