Male vs female comparison aside, on WNBA's own level, there are enough good players but not enough roster spots. Starter type of players are getting cut by teams. They're trying to solve this by expanding from the existing 12 teams.

Its noT as good as the early days IMO. It was more entertaining during the gritty era of defense in basketball. but nwo you add all these threes and no defense plus no dunking virtually and its just not that much fun. they need to lower the rims. Even britany griner can barely dunk.

wnba players need to get over themselves and lower rim and play with a smaller ball. I'd also suggest tighter shorter uniforms and reduced shot clock. They better figure it out before their sport is invaded...

Seriously, they definitely should be marketed better. And why haven't they done a calendar? They have some legit babes on the squad

I don’t think lowering the rims will help. It’s just a fact of life that women are nowhere near as athletic as men. People want to watch the absolute peak of basketball and spend money on it. That’s the NBA. Women’s sports will never be able to compete with male sports in ratings and viewership because they compete in objectively inferior leagues by nature of biology. Lowering the rims will not change that, and may actually draw even more attention to the difference when they’re playing on baby rims.

The only reason the women’s national soccer team gets viewers is because they’re representing the USA, and we will watch sports we never otherwise watch, such as curling and swimming, if it means USA can win gold.

But other than that, I don’t think there are any successful women’s professional sports leagues that survive on their own.

Every time the WNBA gets brought up, you get some people commenting on how its unprofitable, or NO DUNKS :( Good basketball is all about profits and dunks apparently. If the WNBA wanted to appeal to your lowest common denominator senses, they would have done it already.

Yeah in women's sports the athleticism isn't the same, but if you appreciate skill, technique and the other things athletes put into their game, its entertaining.

If Houston gets another team I'd definitely follow along and root for them.

Women are generally shorter than men, lowering the rims would absolutely help. The reason Griner can barely dunk is because the rim is too high and they are using nba measurements for everything out of pride. Lowering the rim means more athleticism and a more exciting game.

I took all of that into account. It’s still not going to look very impressive and is going to do nothing to attract more viewers. The only thing it will do is lead to more ridicule.

And I don’t think it has anything to do with pride. Basketball rims are 10 feet. Period. Even middle schoolers play on a 10 foot rim.

First off I know its pride because they have been officially asked and refused to do it. secondly people arent paying to see 10th graders play basketball. I love how you think you're the authority on whats going to attract viewers. If you raise the NBA basket to where they cant dunk no one will want to watch the NBA either. Its not just about dunking though its also about layups and how they finish as well. Its much more pleasing to watch. Raise the nba courts and it'll make these giants look like tiny people running around and it wont be fun. Thats the problem the WNBA is having. I for one would watch more if they were lowered. In my neighborhood growing up we lowered the rims so we could dunk like NBA players and we got spectacular dunks the wnba could do the same thing. I would love to see a woman doing reverse dunks. Im also starting to get an air of sexism in your tone. "even if you lower the rim that wouldnt help" whatever man.
