The Press wrote an article on the racism there, because it's so damn blatant. The few times I've been, the place was full of white guys wearing shorts and flip-flops, while black guys get turned away for wearing sneakers. Of course, despite keeping what they deem as "undesirable elements" out, Bronx still has many more fights than any other place in the Village.
Yes, that was part of the joke. You know, because the bouncer made a racist comment about them being Indian.
Lot of clubs contract their security instead of directly hiring their own. IF THATS the case, I think that might be a more effective setup for a complaint, complaining directly to the security team. Security teams its all about image, because they want to staff several clubs not just 1. They cant risk the bad publicity. And It would show you really mean it if it took you extra steps to tell it. Not that clubs themselves dont promote their image too. Could be the opposite, but I think a club might be more protective with their own hired guy over someone else's. Thats not to mean security teams have less ogres, probably even across the boards. I know a coworker who bounces. Its recession time part-time work, not his day job or career. He keeps it nice and safe, doesnt want to go into a professional environment with cuts and bruises on his face. My coworker would say he's outnumbered 80 to 1 to start with. And out of those 80 there's probably gonna be 10 of those doing something he has to break up. Cleaning up blood, keeping throngs of wannabe VIPs out the VIP area, the typical guys fighting over a girl. Snooty, snippy waitresses bossing them around wanting them to do stuff they're not hired to do. Tossing out several drunks on the night...can get into 1 track mind "Clean House" mode. Drunk or high while bouncing? Thats whats called incompetent authority, a no-no. Grounds for dismissal if whoever the bouncer works for is serious enough.
It's actually a couple of guys that own it now. One is Persian the other is white. The original crew of owners back in the day were all Persians. Now it's a different set. I know all of them and have been in business with them when I had my own bar.
Yeah, but he probably said something like punjabi smelly curry mofo instead of injun fire water breather. Cause there's no way in hell that a bunch of dudes in moccasins would be let into the club. Your post was still funny as hell! I'm just giving you a hard time.
The OP is replying in different threads on the BBS...I know he can see this one...come on partner name the club
I don't want to name the place. I've had fun there before and am hoping this was a one-off event. Well, I guess I have to name it after starting a thread on it. It was at Red Door. I don't go out often, so I think I would consider going back there if friends were going and if enough time has passed. You can flame me for this if you want, but I'm not holding a grudge against them forever. However, if I ever hear of a single other instance, then there would be no question about avoiding it. I was reluctant to name it b/c although the guilty bouncer acted this way, the bouncer who initially asked us to leave seemed like he was convincing the other fellow to stop and go back inside or something.
I went to the Red Door with some white friends and was let in. Then I left and came back by myself and was still let in. I left again cause the white people were having a hissy fit and had to leave so I decided to call my black friend up who was in the area and he came by and decided to go to the red door with me cause he had never been. His pants were a little baggy but nothing horrible and he had on a collared shirt and shoes and was denied entrance and so was I even though the bouncer knew I was in there earlier. As soon as I was denied entrance this white dude wearing flip flops and some really loose fitting clothes with a hat got in. If it helps any he had a girl with him. My black friend went up to the bouncer and called him out but theres nothing you can do because they can refuse service to anyone.
Red door? Really? I can say I know Darin, who is the owner. he's been busy with Sawyer Park and The Drake prior to that, but he's been one of the most sincere guys I've met out there. I don't see him doing anything inappropriate, and I've been frequenting his places for 7 years now. Give me more details on this.
Don't worry, most of us were with you. It's always a buzzkill when you have to explain a funny post that went over someone's head.
You can tell. Actually, you can basically just tell who ISN'T Mexican. I think that is how they do it.
