These are the 2 links I could find regarding Houston's projected growth:
    http://www.houstontx.gov/planning/_GeneralPlan/Growth.html
    http://2040forecast.h-gac.com/

    2035
    8,958,203 million people

Yeah but those numbers include 8 surrounding counties, all the way down to Galveston. That is way outside our metropolitan area. But let's give you those numbers. Even then, our metro numbers are currently around 6 mil. That's still only 50% growth. And that's 22 years from now, not the 10-15 yr da1 pulled out his ass.

a line going out west along the energy corridor to katy would be awesome..

I-10 is a great, giant freeway but even if we take the conservative guess for growth it is going to be hell if everyone is commuting in from the westside to go to work downtown, and the energy corridor, and down to the TMC

Great survey, I did my part.

Houston Metro should take a look at Chicago's CTA system. I feel it would greatly benefit the city and the system seems to be very efficient in moving people to and from the city.

I'd love rail in the denser areas of houston. Extensive rail inside the loop would be great

Should have started with high speed/heavy rail from the suburbs into the city/to the loop, and just bolstered the bus fleet inside the loop.

All of the Metro rail built to date is really useless. I experimented with taking it from Pearland to downtown (park at the Fannin lot). People hop on and go 2 exits, then get off. Homeless just drifting on and off. No body checking Q-Cards.

The North line...the UH line....I'm clueless as to who will be transported on those stretches. What cars are being removed from the road?

The first stretch built should have been connecting the Galleria to Downtown.

This would've happened if voters in 1983 didn't shoot down the plan.

Thanks for providing the link, but that article sucks. All it says is that "by some estimates, Houston is expected to more than double in population by 2030."

I want to know who is making these estimates, but the writer doesn't give any sources for these estimates. You originally said Houston population was expected to double in 10-15 years, and I would be surprised to see that happen.

If you can find any legitimate studies on expected population growth that comes close to what you claimed I would like to see it.

I did find this at www.houstontx.gov:
So, it appears to me that the Houston-Galveston Area Council is expecting a population increase of 3.5 million for the greater Houston area over the next 30 years. Over that time Harris County may pick up 2 million people, but not all of Harris county is within the Houston City limits. I put more trust in the Houston-Galveston Area Council population growth projections than the online blog or whatever it was you linked us to. I definitely don't see us doubling our population in 10-15 years like you claimed.
