I can't fault the news stations for this one. This is bad, very bad. And the storm itself is unprecedented. It's like the friggin' thing is trying to turn back into a tropical storm on land, and when it couldn't do that headed back for the Gulf. I finally heard from my aunt. My parents have a foot of water in their house. I have yet to hear from them as they have not been able to use their regular or their cell phones. I do know that they are all right but the house is obviously not. Our prayers are with you guys. ------------------

Well, I've been up in Kansas and Oklahoma all week, and on Thursday I saw the news about the storm . . . we didn't have any probs though out in Katy . . . looks like a normal rain out here . . . I just got my internet service back. We didn't flood in the house but there was a lot of water around. My grandparents were in Timbergrove Manor and got 18" throughout their entire house. I was there some yesterday cutting up and throwing out soggy carpet. I've been here 32 years and, while I've seen some awful floods, I've never seen one this widespread. At least 10 people dead, 15,000 in shelters, all but two of the med-center hospitals without power (doctors were HAND VENTILATING critical patients) and hudreds of millions in damage. Unreal! As for the news coverage interrupting the game, I don't mind. Frankly, I find the fact that channel 2, 11 and 13 went for a day and a half without ANY ADVERTISING revenue and paying all that employee overtime to their reporters newscasters pretty admirable even if they were a tad over-the-top at times. ------------------ The internet is about the free exchange and sale of other people's ideas. - Futurama

The Celebrity WL thing was lame...by the way. It is Walton, Snapper, and Baron for the next halftime (same game, I guess). Costas was voted off first. They all would make up stuff aout why they got voted off...it was dumb. Anyway, glad all is well. My wife flew in today -- was supposed to go in yesterday, but the airport was closed. Luckily, our house recieved no damage. I do not know about my parent's house, though, and they are in Europe right now. man...i live in Bellaire and all of my family's houses (4 total) in this area took in at least 12"-18". Unbelievable. It was one giant lake yesterday morning. good luck to anyone else affected. i've lived here all my life and this is by far the most disastrous event in the city. ------------------
