Totally agree. I think we're in for some haranging from Yao fans until he gets acclimated. That post from W & S this week was mind boggling. You'd think the people that have been following Yao the longest would be concerned about throwing this guy to the wolves early and have his confidence shaken. For all the criticism we've seen of Steve and Cat here I am not worried at all about them not getting Yao the ball once he's comfortable. And you'd think they'd be happy that Yao's come to a yong team who can win now and grow together. And Rudy? For all the crticism he gets, he's the perfect coach for a young guy coming in under extraordinary circumstances. We all want to see Yao play more, but I don't get the criticism of how he's being brought along in Houston. I just can't see any justification for it at all.

No, we know it our heart that you're a worthless troll that is frustrated that Ming is increasingly getting more minutes and getting better while the Rockets are winning.

I admit I'm probably a Y.A.O. myself. But that said, I absolutely believe Houston's the right place for him... and the present pace of development is just great.

Obviously "TheNextBigThing" wasn't paying attention when Yao's negotiators (the Sharks, Erik Zhang) all insisted they were hoping Yao *wouldn't* get too much playing time this year. One of the earliest stated positions by the Shanghai Sharks is that Yao Ming's on-court minutes would actually be *limited*: so that he had time to develop, instead of "just" getting wins for the Rockets to no personal advantage.

Yao should be limited to 25 minutes a game this first season. His body needs time to get adjusted to the pace of the NBA season. He needs time to sit on the sidelines and watch/understand the pace and flow of play, not simply get consumed by it. He needs to be in the second unit for much of the season, so he can *watch* front-line centers doing their thing.

Yao doesn't need to be focusing on his shot. Is Yao really more of a consistent offensive threat right now than Steve Francis? Absolutely not. Some balance would help the Rockets, but Yao should indeed be taking less than half the number of shots Francis is taking. Focus on rebounding, blocking shots, and positioning his body on defense. This is what he needs to be doing with his time.

And "TheNextBigThing" discredits the real YAO's (like, Mr. and Mrs. Yao) who will surely understand what Yao Ming needs to develop his career and abilities.

I wish I could say I was being ironic, but you got me. Damn Microsoft and it's automatic spell checker, I have gone soft. Anyways, I apologize to The Next Big Thing because I am a dumb ass too. Your opinion still sucks though.

As a rookies, Kobe Bryant played 15.5 min/game, Jermaine O'Neil 10.2 min/game and Tracy McGrady 18.4 min/game. Those guys turned out ok, so I'm not too worried.

What you just said is interesting. Perhaps its best for a young rookie to play on a playoff contender his first season instead of playing 38 mins on a losing team. Hell learn more about winning that way.

Are you an Eddy Curry fan? They're doing the same thing in Chicago with him as Rudy is doing....

Have you developed one of the best centers of all time? Has Rudy?

Didnt everyone say before the season started you would have to gradually fit in Yao Ming.

So what do you want the Rockets org. to do. As a guard oriented team, not get better post players. Just stay the way they are, with one of the worst records in the NBA last year.

And when a foerign player that has only played against american players a couple of times and never played with american players. That missed all of summer league, which every other rookie got a chance to practice in. A player that missed over half of the preseason games. So your saying that this player Yao M. that we are talking about should come in and take a majority of the shots, and a all star starter is suppost to right away take less shots then this player. Your living in a dream land, happy land, fairy land.

Do you remember what Yao Ming said what he wanted in the NBA when he came over here. He said he wanted to go to a team that wanted to compete right away. And he also wanted to go to a city that has at least some asian population. Buddy that is HOUSTON ROCKETS. And since your saying this is a guard oriented team, what did you want him to go to a team with a really strong frontline, do you think he would get better playing time like that.

No my friend what people call you around here is a fan for another team. That has nothing better to do then come on here and make idiotic suggestions. If this wasnt on a computer, and was conversation in a room with all the people here I would pop on the back the head and tell you to stop saying dumb things and to stop saying things without thinking first. IDIOT...

Nextbigthing, You can still get to see Yao when he visits Bay Area and whip GS's arse. :) For now, just back up slowly and go away. Or if you want to shut up and read many intelligent posts on this board, you are also welcome.

    Next Big Thing,

You don't come here and tell us garbage that "we know in our heart" that you are right about this.

That characteristic right there is akin of a troll.... intentionally trying to provoke a flame response.

    Go away, mmkay?

Ming played 24 minutes last night. With his current skills and stamina, how many minutes do you think he should play each game? Rudy is giving Ming plenty of opportunities.

NBA is a men's game. Even being the golden boy, Ming still needs to earn those minutes by hard work. Wait untill Houston plays the Golden state to see if Ming is better than the big men of the Warriors. To be a starter in any NBA team is not easy.

    1. Golden State: Sit behind Dampier and probably Foyle
    2. Chicago: Sit behind Curry
    3. Cleveland: Sit behind Ilgauskas
      [/list=1]

The only team in that group he would start for is Denver. And what makes anyone think he would get a lot of touches for teams that have Antwaan Jamison, Jalen Rose, or Ilgauskas.

Oh, and somebody list all the great passers on those teams? I don't recall any of them being near the top of the league in assists. Remember, Cleveland doesn't have Miller anymore.

Yah know, this is not like talking. You would think a person would have time to think before putting their keyboard in their mouth.

A Y.A.O.? I remember I posted about a week ago that Francis and Ming brought some weird fans with them when they came, I guess that's true. They brought a ton of good and knowledgeable fans with them, but some weird fans snuck into the pack.

Okay Troll, who would you like us to trade for Yao Ming? That way we can see your true colors. You are offering us fans a trade right? And you do know that that will accomplish nothing right? Damn trolls.

We have to come up with a better acronym then Y.A.O. We can't associate troll posters with the name of one of our star players. Calling Next Big Thing a Y.A.O sounds like a compliment.
