    Good news is that we either get better (though I'm doubtful) or we get a better draft pick (more likely IMO). Either way...win-win.

    Man I wish I could of heard the interview.

    I wonder what Kevin McHale said that "blows people away"

    I can only guess that it centered around Hill and Patterson and how he feels like they can be much better than they are now.

    Heres my theory:
    Rockets now have a 4 year plan. It is no longer about winning or the playoffs. McHale comes in as a player development coach, Finch learns the ropes and will take over after McHales contract is up. We make a move for Kanter, possibly moving Martin/Scola. Suck next year, load up with as many picks for 2012 as possible and lay the foundation for Finch to use as our next era begins.

    I can support that, I guess.

    morey is a big time gambler. he puts all his chips in like two players left in the final poker game. his status as an elite gm is on the line. he will be remembered as either one of best modern gms or moneyball havard grads. there is no btw. we will see the result in 2 years or no more than 4 years. this is do or die for him.

    He did not tell me, but he did make it sound like they already knew. Makes you wonder about Elie and Cassell. I'll see what I can find out.

    Maybe it's just me, but I find the decision of who coaches this team to be far less important than it was in 2003 (Van Gundy) or 2007 (Adelman). Maybe it's actually more important because of all the growth that they need, but the trades and maneuvering that the front office needs to do is of far greater importance to me.

    I think, much like the GM position, the coach is just the leader of a staff. I'm sure Finch and other assistants will do a lot of the heavy lifting on the X's and O's. If you looked at McHale as a guy who was coaching this team alone, I wouldn't like the hire at all.

    McHale is a natural leader who has been through every high and low possible in the game of basketball. The Rockets appear committed to surrounding him with a crackerjack staff well-versed in advanced analytics. I find this all to be satisfactory. But none of it means jack **** if we can't get some better talent on the team. That should be priority #1.

    I've entered step twelve of my program. I accept McHale as the coach and am happy with the decision. Thanks for standing with me everyone.

    If you had told me a month ago that the head coaches for the Lakers/Rockets was going to be Mike Brown/Kevin McHale I would have laughed at you.
