Kevin McHale is supposed to be quite the teacher of young big men. I wonder what he can do with the Rockets young 7'3" center Hasheem Thabeet.

Is like asking why do "In Morey we trust" idiots keep drinking that cool-aid?

Until they trade away Lowry, Martin, and Scola for youth, I don't believe we are rebuilding. I believe we are going to be competing for the playoffs and a top seed next season. The only thing that will change that is if there is a big trade or two that moves us back to the youngest team in the league.

I like this move and was rooting for McHale out of all the candidates. Welcome K-Mac! The future is bright. The coaching staff sounds like it was designed to cover up for McHale's weaknesses. Hopefully we reel in Joeger.

Those who refuse to read more in to Martin and Lowry's quotes are obviously riding Morey's nuts or best-case employing wishful thinking.

I think we can keep Lowry as part of the youth movement, he is only 2 - 2 1/2 years olders than a NCAA college senior. Kyle Singler (23), Charles Jenkins(22 1/2)

There is a big difference between a "someone" (someone = media and message board members), and actual PLAYERS and EMPLOYEES of the franchise.

It has less to do with Morey, more to do with not wanting players to have personal agendas that can influence everyone else and bring down production.

Players have the right to dislike the team moves. And they have right to express the dislike. Just hope that its TEMPORARY.

I have similar sentiment. Its not just the franchise showing the narrowed field of parameters to work under. It how there seems NOTICEABLE increased amount of "schematics" and "logistics" to every little move now. Even on moves that might not require it. Still not sure if its the necessary work required for getting ahead. Or a bit "excess" I guess you can say.

I'm going to say its the necessary work. Dallas uses a similar approach (with deep pockets) and while they havent won the title, they've been SERIOUS contenders year after year on the LONG term.

But all-in-all it still seems like you gotta get GOOD players, and a good coach to to lead them, they give good effort, and hope for the best. You certainly can't fault the Rockets for NOT being diligent, though

Sincerely doubt there was any ill-will behind Martin's comments. He was toting the company line -- win championships, great hire, yaddy yaddy. Doesn't mean that he actually believes it, but that's what you have to say.

I think his "we have a great speaking relationship :)" comment clearly meant that Martin was kept keenly aware of who the Rockets top choice is. Morey has most likely been kissing his ass since he cried to the media about feeling like an asset.

    Wow...

He was Stockton/Malone before Stockton/Malone in terms of sheer hatred back in the 80's...

This is one of them there Morey "analytical/outside the box" type moves. You know...the "Genius" gets it while us peons don't?

At least McHale is defensive minded and he won't take BS from any player. Hopefully, he will make the Rocks at least relevant.

By the way, this doesn't work? Ship the "Genius" out with him. Geniuses don't get to go through THREE coaches.

Totally agree. If, a few years from now, this flops like Vlade Divac then Morey's had his innings and it's time to go.

Well . .. I don't think they consider McHale a REAL hire because he is a means to the end.
Morey won't be shipped until the Finch Era is underway or over

You're also assuming that it's been Morey's call to change coaches and not Les Alexanders. Alexander has had a lot to do with both JVG and Adelman not being retained.

This is also how I feel. I have no proof. (Maybe some insiders do.) I still think Morey is too smart to do some seemingly dumb things, things like asking Adelman to groom a coach (someone outside of his own staff) to take over his own job.
