I hope you're right. What are you basing that on? That's what interests me.

+1, but enough of my negativity. I am ready to be effervesced. My expectations are quite high, after our last two coaches.

Welcome to Houston KMac. If Morey hired KMac the player, or some current version of him, then he made the right call. The problem is KMac was hired to coach. Right idea of getting a talent, wrong postion, I guess.

I don't expect much from the Rockets based on their decisions in the past four to five years under the Morey regime, so the end result of all these is pretty much predictable.

I just hope KMac's stint with the Rockets will be successful enough so that he does not further taint his basketball legacy. As for the Rockets, it has officially become the proto typical Houston team, fire the successful coaches and reward and hire mediocrity. Good luck.

Without some major overhaul of our roster, I can't really get excited about any coach we hire. Unless McHale can still dress up and play, he won't make that much of a difference next season.

Typical rude sexist person to call out “woman” when plenty of other people also had the same view as me. Great start to your posting here -- showing your “Authentic” sexist colors!!!

    Well, here comes the tanking.

I can't believe we went from a Lexus to a Pinto in coaching. Pathetic.

if you are playing crash derby, then pinto is the better choice.

not that i think the team will crash. point being that different situations call for different solutions. rick adelmans time has passed. i think mchale will win more than 44 games next year.

    Dude, I don't what's worse:
    (1) you actually work for the Rockets and post your rah rah stuff here. That's especially uncool with the "Adelman quit" garbage you're posting.
    or
    (2) you don't work for the Rockets but believe what you're typing.

So which is it? You just joined (5-27), and your every post is defending the McHale hire, backing up the FO brain trust, and running down Adelman. You can see why this is extremely suspicious.

    (3) You're related to Morey or McHale... (or both )

    DEAL NOT OFFICIAL:

Rumors are circulating that NBA TV and TNT analyst Kevin McHale has agreed to a deal to coach the Houston Rockets.

Not so fast, says McHale. Though several reports are indicating that McHale has accepted an offer to rejoin the ranks of the NBA’s coaching fraternity, McHale told sources Friday at Turner Sports that no agreement has yet been reached and that several hurdles in the talks still need to be cleared.

Meanwhile, league sources are telling McHale’s TNT colleague, David Aldridge, that McHale is definitely Houston’s choice. The Rockets, according to DA, also have asked for permission to talk with Grizzlies assistant Dave Joeger, though it’s not certain it would be for an assistant job on McHale’s bench or another position. The Grizzlies are hoping to retain Joeger.

McHale coached 63 games of the 2008-09 season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, going 20-43, before moving over to the broadcast booth with Turner Sports for the past two seasons. He also coached the Timberwolves in 2004-05, going 19-12.

UPDATE: The AP is reporting a deal is close, but not official.

Not happy with this, but then again, no coach we hire no matter how experienced or inexperienced he is will have any success with our mediocre roster. I'm sure our roster will stay mediocre with "diamond in the rough" players for the next decade.

it's the big news of the day. what else should i be talking about.

i like adelman. but i like the rockets more.

adelman was brought in to coach yao+mac to a championship. he had a tough break and nothing but disappointments from things that were beyond his control. he said it himself - "i came here to coach yao and mac but instead i have chuck and martin" - or whatever the exact quote was. he was clearly disappointed. i give him credit for working hard previously, but he was clearly mailing it in this season. if other people can't see it, that's not my problem. i like rick but he needs a new team. he already gave us his best effort. the fire in his belly is gone. time for a new coach.

i like the mchale + finch plan. keep adelmans offense, give us a change of scenery, some new hunger, better work with big men and young players, establishing relationships around the league, etc etc.

i honestly dont see any negatives whatsoever with this move. and i even remember the rockets vs celtics in 86 and i like this move even more. i wonder what dream thinks.

I don't see any negatives with the hiring of McHale either. I just don't know why you are so excited about this move. It's not like LeBron, Wade and Bosh all decided to play for Houston next season.

Just curious, how does the 86 Houston-Celtics series make you like this move even more?

That was how I read it too....more straightforward, not so much sarcastic.

Perhaps as a player that's friendly with other players in the league he knows something that we don't?

because it was a balls-to-the-wall battle and i really enjoyed it despite the rockets loss. we got our championship later on so it doesn't bother me.

here's an analogy. you know how rocky and apollo became really good friends after their epic fights ??? its kinda like that.
