Same thing I said about smoove and Jones...they are very comparable .A C/F is what we need....a d.cousins would be great to have...he would fit in perfect with this team.

    Think of a line-up of....

    Lin
    Hard
    Parson
    Cousins/Jones
    Asik/cousins

You can swap pf and c depending on your matchup....cousins and Jones are Kentucky boys that are a young , big, skilled and athletic front court for the future ......ad asik and his intangibles and u have a load down low...Lmao

Wish TWolves don't make the playoffs so we can get Love. Love already hates TWolves and.net making playoffs. Kevin Love would be awesome. TJones will be awesome tho.

I find it hard to believe we'll have a real window paying Jeremy Lin and Josh Smith 23 million a yr.

On Smith and all his "improvement"......You can't teach an old dog new tricks. The guy has flat out quit on the court before ...His talent is undeniable, but Josh HAS an attitude. he doesn't PLAY with one.

How can we trade for a big money player?

Sorry if this is a basic question but... Given that salaries have to be somewhat matched in a trade and all are tradeable players are dirt cheap, how could the Rox possibly trade for a big money player right now?

For example, I see Josh Smith and Alridge being suggested as great fits for this team but both make in the $13mm salary range, meaning we would have to come up with ~$10mm in salary to match.

Outside of Harden/Lin/Asik (who I believe are currently untradeable b/c the recently signed deals), all of our guys make in the $1-3mm range, meaning we would have to send over half the team to make such a deal work.

    Am I missing something here??

Rudy Gay is an overrated shot chucker.
He's not a star contrary to what maybe a grand total of two members of this BBS believe he is.

When I tried it on ESPN's trade machine after the Harden trade I sent about 5 players so yea (and that was before we waived 5 guys). I think you're right; thus the wait until we can sign him in FA, i think.

Yes. You are missing the part where the Rockets have something like $8mil in capspace.

But you still have to roughly match salaries to make a trade regardless of your cap situation right? So the implication is that the next major player the Rockets bring on will be a free agent signing or a trade involving Harden, Lin, or Asik?

I really like this...Cousins is really the one i want to go after. I believe Cousins and Asik complement each other really well. A line up of

    Asik/Cousins
    Cousins/TJ
    Parsons
    Harden/Delfino
    Lin/Douglas

That is one big strong line up that i see contending for a title by year 2014/15

No you don't. The whole reason for matching salaries is to prevent a team from going further over the cap than they currently are.

Since the rockets have $8M of cap space, they can absorb that amount of salary in a trade. As long as the other team (who is presumably over the cap), is lowering their payroll and not adding to it, the salaries don't have to match.

It would be different if we were to trade higher salaries to a team over the cap while we are under. It would put them further over the cap, which is not allowed.

It shouldn't be hard to do tbh, we got some young pieces and we are stacked at the forward position. I see why not we couldn't give up D-Mo, P-Pat and some like Morris our future draft pick for some like Kevin Love or Josh Smith. That kind of move would make as a top 8 team. :)

Or send out few pf's, Parsons and ger yourself a SF like Rudy Gay. There are a lot of options and be4 the trade deadling I think we will see one more blockbuster trade.

we should bring tmac back from china. w/ harden doing most of the shot taking and drawing most of the attention, tmac will be free to move around the perimeter and shoot 3's.

Some of y'all seem to be content on just being a playoff team. I think a move like Millsap, Smith, Gay, giving up young players and draft picks to acquire, would make us a playoff team, but nowhere close to being a title contender. I say unless we can get a Cousins or a Love (which I doubt are possible moves), then just play the youngster in TJones and D-Mo and see what we have. Maybe we get lucky on the draft this year. I would still like to try and trade someone like PPat to say the Spurs for an uprotected pick in 2014. I still think they are about to drop off pretty soon, pretty quick.

With a defensive-minded center, the Rockets need a power forward that can create his shot and score in bunches.

The fact that you would pay the max for an above average iso player that can't play defense and is not a good fit is a bit disconcerting.

Parsons has a lot more value especially when you consider his contract.
