you beat me to that SCH. seriously, is Rashard Lewis worth all that money and effort. i mean, i sometimes feel that the fact he wanted/wants to play in Houston is why you all want him here rather than for his game.

    No, the math is correct.

The trade (deficit) exception that Houston presently has is worth around $4.0Million, and realistically it can be "transferred/transported" almost like a coupon (which I believe Heypartner coined somne time ago).

Therefore, when we trade, say Walt and Drew to another team, the math looks like this: $4.5M(Walt) + $1.1M(drew) = $5.6M + $4.0 (actually it is a little more like ...$4.2M but whatever) = $10.6Million we can take back in return without penalty or league sanction.

    Heypartner

Dang I forgot that minimum length rule. Yeah your right. So he would have to sign at least a two year deal.

    SCH & DREAM

Well, an up and coming young power forward with Rashard's talent and promise asking for $5-6 Million, is not over-inflated, nor is it a discounted bargain, but it is acceptable in comparison to today's NBA salary standards.

    Ya'll,Just to Recap

Just to set the record straight, I posted previously on several threads, that there was no way Rashard Lewis would be coming to Houston. If Rashard was seeking a "money contract" as was reported earlier, it would be tough for Houston to compete with the Seattle Sonics.Aelliott and others agree. Plus, the fact that both Rashard and his family have previously gone on record as disparaging the Houston Rockets for real or perceived "injustices" during his drafting.

However, I was attempting to show that things recently have changed dranmatically.

    (a) Rashard is now pressing to leave the Sonics,

(b)He has made some strong overtures to Houston, and in fact they are at the top of his list, which as indicated ... a new development,

    (c) and that being the case, I speculated we would be able to make a strong bid to the Sonics for him, based on our exception of $4.0Million that could be used to "sweeten the pot" in a sign and trade with the Sonics.

    Cheers.

Ya know, this board was working ok until this particular thread started going crazy. I'm wondering if all the problems people are seeing during posting aren't being caused by this honkin' huge thread. [IMG]
