ILL BE PLAYING SUMMER FEST COME SEE MY BAND TOO! 2pm on sunday Roky Moon and BOLT!. If you are a fan of David Bowie, T-Rex and Slade then you will like it!
Wrong, if you're going one day go Sunday. Of Montreal alone is worth the price of admission on Sunday. Really looking forward to this, I hope it goes well so this becomes an annual thing. I do wish I could go on Saturday though, unfortunately I won't be back in town until late. I'd like to catch BSS.
Forgot about this. I'll even be in The Woodlands this weekend, but have no time to make it down there. I'd love to be there to see Explosions In The Sky at sundown. That's the time they played ACL 2 years ago and it just added to the experience. They should be contractually obligated to always play at sundown.
So did anybody else make it yesterday? Explosions @ sundown was pretty cool. I still think This Will Destroy You puts on a vastly superior live show. BSS is not really my flavor of music, but I gotta say....the live show was pretty awesome. HISD....epic. The best band IMO was Riff Tiffs. Very, very pleasant suprise. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7Cd2_xeaP04&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7Cd2_xeaP04&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> btw.....if anybody goes today...prepare yourself for a massive JORT-fest.
I'm going today, as my bass amp is making an appearance in the backline of one of the stages. I am proud to say that I will be jort-free (cargo shorts for me - there's no way I'm wearing jeans in this heat).
The Sword in the midst of all that was a nice metal escape from the otherwise indie instrumental garble. Yay The Sword. I saw stipendlax, I gave him a terrorist fist jab. And they aren't Jorts Landry, you're just not indie enough to understand that hipsters take their old girl jeans and cut them off making them new creations, not jorts.
I had a pretty good time yesterday, despite the heat. I enjoyed HISD, Fat Tony, and the Ton Tons. I'll be going around 3 today so I can catch the Wild Moccasins, Prince Paul, and Devin the Dude. Not a huge Of Montreal fan, so I may skip out early.
I think so. Not nearly as big as the Enron Earth Day festival crowds.......but pretty impressive for indie music.
This is true. I'm not indie enoughto understand......I'm sticking with my slightly over-sized Dickies. did you happen to see that kid get clobbered in the face during BSS? LOL! I don't think anybody on UFC 101 took a hit that hard.
only made it out to see BSS and explosions... really liked BSS and enjoyed seeing explosions in that setting at sunset. all my friends and i were thoroughly impressed with the crowd size. could definitely see this thing taking off and becoming a legitimate mainstay in the festival circuit. really looking forward to catching the wild moccassins... they were standing behind us for a little while before explosions took the stage.
I made it out yesterday. Explosions was like a religious experience. Simply amazing. Looking forward to Voxtrot and Of Montreal today. The setup and organization is kinda whack at this festival. They make you stand in line to buy food and drink coupons. Then you stand in line again to use your coupons to buy said food and drinks. To get in took almost an hour as the they only had two will call booths open. The line to purchase tickets had about only 10 people in it, whereas the Will Call line had about 200 people in at around 5PM. There was no point in buying my ticket online before the event as it was overall cheaper to buy it at the venue. The venue is nice and has good site lines since you can sit on the hill. Wasn't expecting this many people to show up though. I don't like the r****ds who show up just to drink beer and talk throughout the whole set. You can do that outside. Didn't see the guy get punched in the face, but Brandon Canning stopped the show and told them to stop fighting. That was pretty funny. I was happy to see every shade of Wayfarers represented.
yeah, the setup for drinks and tickets was no bueno but it's their first go round of this... i was expecting some miscues like that. it was just nice to see such a solid turnout to an indie fest (for all intents and purposes) in the middle of august in houston.
