I can see it now, either VCU or Butler wins the national championship on a tip in dunk from a last second airball 3pt attempt...

    Funny.

But is this better or worse for Houston? Is it better to have top name schools or underdogs? I don't want to read negative reports about our Final Four.

I'm so excited that Butler has another legit shot to reach the championship game. But at this point, I'd have to make VCU the favorite. There's a reason they destroyed Georgetown & Purdue and just took down the best team in the tournament (IMO).

After this exhausting game, I don't really feel invested in UK/UNC. I can watch it and relax. But at some point, my anti-UK DNA might kick in.

It's not the city of Houston's fault which teams show up. The city's responsibility is to provide a quality venue, ample security, hospitality and quality logistics.

Looks like tickets were divided by level for the most part:

    100 - schools

    300 - corporate partners

    600 - general public

I'm not happy about Butler and VCU because there will be one team in the national championship game that will not sell tickets. I bet 100 level tickets will be available on game day.

And the last ticket is punched. So we have the following storylines:

UCONN - Can Calhoun get his 3rd title? Will Kemba continue to be the star of the tournament?

UK - Can Calipari get his first? Can storied UK win for the first time since 98?

Butler - Can they rebound from last years loss to win it all this year?

VCU - Can they continue their historic run?

Either way the title game should pit an underdog against a storied program. I expect to see more UK fans in town than anyone else.

Isn't that better for Houstonians though...more available tickets? Since you have to buy a 4 night stay with a ticket from the school, I also am worried that they may not sell all of them. But then again, the fans of those schools should be amped that their teams made it...I guess.

UK was definitely the better team today, but props to UNC for scapping, never giving up and taking advantage of UK's mistakes.

Don't worry about selling tickets if UK makes the championship game. Half of the state of Kentucky will want tickets and will drop everything to come to Houston.

If UConn wins Saturday, no way Reliant will sell out next Monday.

If Houstonians buy those tickets. They're not going to be cheap. Otherwise, there will be empty seats in the lower bowl.

For anyone in Houston wanting to go to the Monday game, tickets are always easy to get for the championship game. Just go to the stadium Saturday night and the fans of the losing teams tend to sell their tickets pretty cheap. I went in 2003 to New Orleans and had friends that went to one of the San Antonio ones, and championship game tickets are easily available all over the place for $50 or less. Saturday is the expensive day because you have fans from 4 schools wanting tickets.

Yup. Best time to buy...probably Sunday. Best time to sell, probably before Saturday. All depending on who wins of course (like you say if UK wins good luck to anyone).

I know the Houston Chamber of Commerce is pissed though. Could have had UK/KAN/FL/Zona.

OK then, if it's Butler vs. UConn, maybe I'll go and take my son.

Is anyone surprised VCU/Butler is leading off on Saturday? Imagine the exodus after the first game otherwise.

How did VCU represent in San Antonio???

If they did okay there, there's no reason why they won't top that in Houston.

Kentucky, near the Cincinnati, OH border. It's about an 18 hour drive - so I'd break it up into two days... leave on Thursday and get there Friday afternoon.

You really think that? VCU and Butler are feel good stories and uconn and kentucky are supposed to be the big time draws, but this isn't like the NBA, march madness is universal appeal for all schools.

Me too. It's about a 35 minute drive. I may break that up so I can stop by a Subway or something.

    smart arse! :)

I just reserved a hotel room by the airport (yes I know its on the opposite side of town) it was cheapest/nicest - so I am good to go with accommodations... now I just need to find someone to make the drive with me

I'd rather not do it on my own
