I know the 'numbers never lie'. I've seen the numbers...I'm way too cranky. My fantasy team decided to take the week off during the freakin playoffs! All I'm saying is don't give us the dam 'I AM GOD...I KNOW ALL...I TOLD YOU SO' speech. It's been said and documented by a number of 'EXPERTS' on this board.
Oh, I was just saying I'd take the Texans defense and skill position players over the Titans. Overall, I think Houston is slightly more talented. New Orleans is pretty good though.
So both NO and Tenn has improved to possible PLAYOFF TEAMS with the #2 n #3 picks last yr and we had the #1 pick and we're still playing for the #1 pick?
I never said he was the second coming. I said he embodies what Houstonians are. Hard-working, driven yet humble. Vince is a Houstonian. The Texans are far less a part of the city than the Rockets and Astros for most of the city. It's not even close. When a team tells its fans that it doesn't care what they think, they don't represent the city. They represent the suits who run the team.
The Titans and Saints were amazing last year then, right? Don't forget if you're drafting high that means you SUCKED the year before. The Titans defense is HORRIBLE.
Dead last. And nothing against Bennett, Brandon Jones, and even Bo Scaife, but these guys just aren't playmakers.
That's where you are wrong...if the 'suits' make the decision they are going to go with the guy who drives in the most fans and can make the team the most money, VY. As it turns out this was a move made by the football people. They had a capable QB a top 10 RB and a dominating receiver under contract. They made the right choice. Right now we are desecrating a guy in Mario Williams who is having a great rookie season. I look at the draft as a huge success. Just like you see star power in VY I see equal star power in Williams, Demeco, Winston, Spencer and Owens. They may not as equal an impact on the game as does VY but someday they will be in the upper echelon of their positions and the Texans 'haters' will have to eat their words. And what really sucks is some of the fans saying 'I told you so' are also some of the same people 2 years ago that wanted to right off Yao Ming, claiming he was a bust...it's a shame.
Hmm. I'm not fair weather material either. I am as devoted as they come to the Astros and Rockets. The Texans have done absolutely nothing to earn any devotion. Quite the contrary. I don't doubt that you are a devoted fan of the Texans. The question is...why? You're either blind or ignorant. I'm not sure which. How many times do they have to kick you in the balls and make absolutely atrocious decisions before you wise up? The smugness of Texans management and telling the fans that they were right about their draft bungle and all the fans that wanted VY or Bush didn't know what they were talking about. Well, it's quite sweet to see it bite them in the ass week in and week out. And it's not about Williams. So don't give me that "it's too early to tell" crap. It's about a worthless QB named David Carr and how after we finally rid ourselves of him we will have to scrap the bottom of the barrel and start over with someone who won't be as good at VY.
Their secondary problems are because a lack of ability...our secondary problems are a lack of mental toughness. We have got to be one of the worst 3rd down/4th down/and goal line defenses on the planet. And speaking in terms of this year...we just simply can't generate enough yards on the ground to scare teams away from sending the house on DC.
Sometimes even though the going is tough you gotta stick by your people and believe that something is better on the horizon. You came on this board to shove it in our face that you knew VY was going to be good. That was your main focus. Congrats you have succeeded in getting your word out but you'll never convince me the Texans made a mistake. A mistake is something that is made blindly not deliberately. You act as though management made the decision to not draft VY just to piss YOU off. They didn't. They did it because at the time we had all the pieces including DC. DC is good enough to lead us to the playoffs. I don't like the way he throws but it's as accurate an arm as anyone else in the league. I'm not ignorant and I'm not blind I just believe in fighting for a team that calls Houston home. I'll never bounce around like some people in Houston who call Dallas their team. Win or Lose the Texans are my team.
While I don't have much to so on the subject other than I'm a Houstonian and an Aggie (therefore my hated of Tennessee is two-fold), when it comes to the idea of supporting the Texans, I am unwavering. The bottem line is that if our somewhat fair weather fanbase runs the Texans out of town, we will NEVER get another team. So stand up, cheer for your team, and be happy that they are the Houston Texans and not the Los Angelas Californians.
You contradict yourself. You say you'll never be convinced the Texans made a mistake. A mistake is something that is made blindly, not deliberately? Well, if the Texans didn't blindly bungle this draft then did they deliberately choose the worst option given there were two clear cut dream picks in this draft? Costing us several wins down the road and pissing off half their fans in the process and costing them the chance at countless more potential new fans? Wow, that's smart of them. I guess at least they didn't make a mistake. It was all part of their master plan to solidify their status as the most inept front office in the league I guess. Well, they've succeeded. Pretty easy to be accurate when most of your passes are 5 yards deep.
