Anyway, I expect her to be a big step down from Bill White. Fortunately for her, that means she has to be merely competent to impress.

As for the first she established, I am shocked Houston hadn't elected a Rice alum earlier.

 

Better to be open than the close-minded, bigots, and teapartyers the rest of the nation views us as.

 

Part of why I like Annise is that her sexual orientation has never really been an issue to her. She just keeps on keeping on. People have tried to make it a big deal, but that has never really worked.

Evertime I hear ... first openly gay mayor ... I think that it is a subtle chide at our former closeted gay mayors ... of which I think there have been two.

 

I'm an ignoramous when it comes to politics, but I'll just ask one question. Is this person able to do the job? Assuming they are the least bit competent, who cares if they are gay?
