Agree with this 100%. Hope Herman stays here for awhile. Hopefully UT doesn't try and swoop in the next season or two.
They're all looking to build a program...until the next big program calls. If a P5 conference team calls, he's probably going.
No doubt that Herman is all in, but that doesn't mean he won't go to another school when the offer comes. If he has success, he will be gone. UH is in the same boat as many other schools. Success means the coach will be leaving. UH just needs to keep finding good coaches. I do think UH is doing the right thing though. Going after up and coming coaches from successful programs. Let's see if the Coogs can pull off an upset this weekend.
It's a necessary evil, I think. Coaches are oftentimes going to be naturally competitive and the opportunity to coach at a higher level (not to mention probably get paid more) is gonna be attractive. When we go after coaches who are committed to staying at UH, we end up with Tony Levine. We want coaches who are gonna win us conference championships, and those are the types that will get poached by other programs.
Losing coaches to the UTs and A&Ms of the world I can handle. Losing coaches to the 2007 iteration of Baylor? Those days are long gone.

So I'm flipping through channels and see TSU's game is on the alternate Root Sports channel. Any reason we can't get games aired on local TV? Maybe one of the sub channels like 13.2... I remember Rice having games aired on channel 51 back in the mid 90s.
I have Comcast, but it's televised there as well on channel 110. Quality is pretty bad though. It's like a stream of a stream.

It's super murky right now. The only thing I've heard is: 1) OU President David Boren wants UH (and 12 teams + a conference network) 2) FOX wants UCF 3) ESPN wants UH and/or BYU 4) WVU President Gordon Gee wants BYU and Cincinnati No idea who Ken Starr wants. I think Baylor is basically in favor of whatever is best for the long term health of the Big 12, which would be 12 teams and a conference network. BYU doesn't advance that cause (due to BYUtv). UH has significant voices in Austin now, and Renu Khator has been absolutely trying to build bridges with the Big 12 power brokers in the state. So, a Baylor-UH alliance isn't unheard of like it would have been 10 years ago. Lots of moving parts.
I haven't payed close attention in several years but why does OU want UH? At one point weren't they against adding more Texas schools? Sounds like you know a lot more about this than I do so any information is appreciated.
OU is feeling the squeeze of A&M's departure. Their Houston presence is significantly diminished and they want it back, as do many B12 North teams. He's been leaking info about his preferences via a long-time reporter for the Tulsa World paper, and Houston is his A#1. http://www.cardiaccoogs.com/2015/06...-says-houston-is-1-on-big-12-relocation-list/ The other part is that he doesn't feel that the B12 is as competitive as it could be or viable long-term without 12 teams, so he's turning up the heat on the rest of the members to act. My guess is the Big 12 will expand after the conclusion of this season and in 2017 UH and UC/UCF/BYU (likelihood in that order) will join the league.
Temple looks great. Two impressive wins so far. Kinda glad that we don't have to play them during the season.
OU thinks that UH in the Big XII will actually help their recruiting within Houston and is a large market that the whole conference wants more of the talent staying in the Big XII. Have very good connections at UH. They all say that right now the odds of UH going to the Big XII are the highest ever. I will believe it when I see it.
