I won't get to deep into this. I will only say he witnessed some teammates do some things that would result in dire consequences for the team and players involved. He ultimately spoke to the HC about it, and the HC let it be known who told and then did nothing about it.
Listened to the full Herman press conference when he was at the UH stadium in December. Cougar Fans, we got the right guy. The program is going to rise.
WE hired La Tech's DL coach Oscar Giles to the same position. He was at UH when Briles was here and he was at UT as their DL coach. Herman with another excellent hire. OOOF
I attended during the Briles era. If I recall correctly, the defense was bad against the run and at applying pressure from the line. I'm just looking for reasons why this was a good hire. I dont know much about him. Thanks!
Moreso of what he did at Texas and La Tech. At Louisiana Tech, Giles helped the Bulldogs lead the nation in takeaways with 42 and rank second in tackles for loss (114) in 2 seasons. At Texas in nearly a decade with the Longhorns, Giles was instrumental in the development of two Ted Hendricks Award winners as the nation’s top defensive end in Jackson Jeffcoat (2013) and Brian Orakpo (2008), along with finalists Tim Crowder (2006) and Sergio Kindle (2009).

Wow that's messed up, I understand not telling more. Thanks for the insight I thought he just was not the same player after the weight gain.
Welcome national champion Tom Herman to the University of Houston. If you helped do it at OSU, why not here?
Looks like the Coogs knocked it out of the park by hiring Herman. Just don't be pissed when he leaves. Be happy that he can put the spotlight on the program, and hopefully put people in the seats. Looking forward to see what he can do.
