We've been hearing that forever, I have my doubts that it will ever happen. In the meanwhile, I'll just get my car re-aligned during football season.
but the vast majority of students don't reside on campus, so that has limited value at a commuter school like UH
Pretty sure we're up to something like 11K beds on campus. Of the undergrad community, that's a pretty significant portion living on campus, about 33%. Forever? They only announced that in the master plan a couple years ago. The plan is to close off Cullen around 2020, I believe. So, not exactly a promise unfulfilled. Nothing wrong with it. Rail will be there in 2014 I think.
I went to the open spring practice again today from 4-6. Piland and Kohlhaussen 90% of the reps. Piland almost exclusively with the 1st team. Piland threw well, if he missed it was usually low, which is a good sign bc that will not translate into turnovers. Missing high would. Welford (I believe to be Sims' backup) dropped a lot of passes today. Troublesome considering how much RB are involved in the passing game. The new Coordinator is pretty calm and cool, but he did yell at a few guys who were just jogging around between plays instead of sprinting back to the line. McMillian wasn't practicing with the defense for some reason. He was off to the side working on his techniques with some coach. (Didn't know who the coach was). He definitively bulked up a bit from last year. Sammy Brown and Justin Johnson were hanging around practice too, so that was cool to see
I appreciate the humor though. They went through quite a bit of length to make it somewhat believable.
BOR member said the university will build something else at 45/Cullen...her example was the UT Tower...recognizable, symbolic.
That's the next best thing. Put some kind of landmark there. A small contingent of students b**** and moan as if the world is coming to an end if the intramural fields get moved, but this is far more important.
UH unveils new athletics logos I like them, not too over the top. The "Oval Cougar" reminds a bit of Penn State though.
Love the new beveled design. As for the secondary logo... THUNDERCOOGS--- HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Im digging it...it does look look similar to other university logos, but there are quite a few that use the oval design anyways. Compared to the previous one, which I liked, I think it's a step up. The lettering looks good too. And lol at the comments on the chron that say we stole Rice's colors.
Don't really dig the cougar logo though I prefer the simpler red/white to the red/white/blue one. Still looks a little weird with the way the whiskers are done, would probably like it more if they ditched them.
