As for asking UT if they'd like to schedule a home and home in the future, Yurachek knew they'd decline, but it was worth a laugh. As for UH scheduling non-conference games the goal is to try and schedule power house programs in the future (and to find these programs that are willing to play us). UT doesn't fit this description, and they haven't for years. So IMO there's nothing to see here.....move along!!!
Because they don't avg less than 30K if UT is the opponent, and they have enough capacity to avoid bleachergate scenarios. It's also a way for UT to allow alum/fans in West Texas to see the team in person. We have the Rice game for that.
Because of that $300 million dollar Research campus that won't happen now.....because UH will block it.
15 years ago. What....4 AD's and 5 coaches later? It is an excuse. UH could offer to play at NRG and UT would decline because they saw what happened to OU in that "neutral site".
The real question is what logical reason is there for UT to accept a game vs UH? Does it need to schedule UH to play in Houston, or does it already have a local option? Why use that option for UH as opposed to Ohio State or USC? Why choose UH over another school in the UT system? There was a logical reason for OU to play in Houston.
So what if the personnel has changed? It's an institutional issue. The higher ups should have stepped in to make sure that the contract was being honored. Texas plays Rice because there is 93 years of tradition and they've never been screwed over. What's the reason to play UH instead? Because the program is better? UT can play other good schools and still maintain games with Rice which goes back 102 years with 94 total meetings. I'm not here trying to hammer home why this is the biggest deal ever. I just don't understand why you would volunteer this issue when it's murky at best. Also, why do you actively post about this subject on a specifically UT football fan board (HornFans)? It looks like you registered a couple months ago to talk about Herman going to UT and gave all these reasons why he wouldn't because of how much UT sucks. That's pretty hardcore trolling. I'm assuming you brought up bleacher gate because it was talked about in the UT Football website that you post on. The best part is that image you posted in this thread and the UT thread was made by a moderator on that website that was just humoring you. Icehouse hit it on the head. There are enough tickets for UT to buy for fans who want to travel or for UT fans that live in that area. The last time they played in El Paso the attendance hit 53,000 and many were UT fans.
Yep.........Why not troll the UT fans. They like to stick their nose up at everyone......while losing to KANSAS! KANSAS! Begging for the UH coach for 2 years. LOL.
Um.....Home and Home. You don't get to dictate how many UT fans are able to attend the UH home game. It is a cop-out. As I said, UH could offer NRG and UT would still put their tail between their legs and run away.
UT doesn't want to play UH. They gain nothing from it, but risk losing quite a bit. UH has been a better football program/team in recent years and UT isn't going to want to risk a possible loss to a non power conference team. UT doesn't want UH getting any additional coverage or recruiting exposure. There isn't much more to discuss about it. Do you think OU wishes they had scheduled Rice instead of UH this year? UT doesn't want to be in that spot. I find it funny how arrogant some UT fans are, for a program that has chronically underachieved and had internal strife. At least there have been less false/garbage complaints about attendance dwindling at UH this season. UT SHOULD be better than UH at football with all of their resources, when they aren't, the problem is internal.
But you have yet to detail why UT should accept a game instead of going with other options like Rice (long history), UT system schools or the USC's of the world? Using NRG as an example, what's the logical reason to play UH at NRG instead of the team you've been playing since 1914?
Can everybody put their egos and weiners away for a moment and just realize that it would be cool and fun as hell for UH and UT to play each other regularly?
Going to end the back and forth on the subject. No one is going to change their mind and it is just spamming the thread with ****.
Why are there UT fans in this thread? Should be talking about Applewhite and how much ass he's going to kick next year in the AAC. Also last I checked the best defensive player in the state plays at UH. Best Quarterback too. At least until graduation.
Basketball is on the rise FYI, Sampson is doing a decent job and recruits are coming in, attendance will grow once stadium gets rennovated and team keeps getting better. Don't forget last time UH played UT in ball....
It would be fun as hell, and I would love it. But, UT doesn't care about what would be fun, or what would be best for their fans.
