Lane Kiffin is Tom Herman 2.0 If the guy is already balking at the buyout number that tells you that he is not thinking about staying. I understand the Todd and Applewhite interest, but if UH officials want a solid coach that is fairly young and established as head coach that will hang around and let the school grow they should be looking at Charlie Strong. I know that is not the popular choice here but to me he would be the best fit for the school program. He is a high caliber guy who needs to be in a place that will let him take the time to solidify his coaching reputation and shouldn't mind a high buyout number. Coogs may have the best negotiation leverage(buy low, sell high) with Strong because he is trying to get the UT stench off his back. Les Miles is next He shouldn't mind a high buyout number either based on his age. After that I would say Applewhite and Orlando but the truth is they may see the program as a stepping stone gig to.

With all that said it will probably be Lane. I'm pretty sure that buyout clause will decrease over time with years of service. I see it decreasing after 3 years. See you all in 2yrs (if he does great) to 3yrs(if he is solid to Good) to talk about the next UH hire.

Les Miles refuses to change his offense. That is the reason he is not in the running for the Purdue job, which he was the leading candidate when it open. You cannot when with his offensive style in college anymore. Even Alabama has updated their pro-style offense...with great results.

My two cents: Strong caught lightning in a bottle with Teddy Bridgewater at Louisville. This is similar to Rich Rodriguez doing the same thing at West Virginia with Steve Slaton/Pat White. After six years of coaching other teams (Michigan and Arizona), it looks like Rodriguez is simply not a good coach. I'm not sure Strong is any different. He had more talent than just about every team he played other than Oklahoma, but failed miserably at UT. He lost to freakin Kansas. UT hadn't lost to Kansas since World War II. Houston can (and will) do better than Charlie Strong.

Yep Herman has been exposed as a POS!!!

He told numerous high up people at UH that he wouldn't go after UH recruits.

    What did you expect?

He was named the head coach for the bowl game, then applies for the head coaching job and loses out to the guy he beat out to coach the bowl game?

This is very predictable and not at all surprising.

The whole thing has been handled very poorly.
