The last time UH got someone with Ed Oliver's accolades was Wilson Whitley, and that worked out pretty well.
Especially in a Conference that does not have big lineman, having one means controlling the line of scrimmage in 90% of our games. We've always generated negative plays at a high rate, but we've never just owned the line of scrimmage, combine the two, and whammo.
Unranked after Keenum's season. We are rarely ranked pre-season, but after Andre Ware we made it all the way to 12. Our highest was 7 in 1969, and we finished 12. In 69 we ran for 288 ypg. Jim Strong average 7 yards per carry.
how is UH picking up a 5-star recruit not self-explanatory on why it's a big deal? it should need no explanation.
What are you Houston guys hearing about Tyrie Cleveland? I know he's committed to Houston but seems to be wavering a bit (especially based on his latest tweet) with the looming NSD.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">.<a href="https://twitter.com/UHCougarFB">@UHCougarFB</a> adds 2 early enrollees: QB Bowman Sells from Lovejoy HS, ranked #16 QB nationally, WR Terry Mark, 3-Star recruit from LufkinHS</p>— Mark Berman (@MarkBermanFox26) <a href="https://twitter.com/MarkBermanFox26/status/689538739647868929">January 19, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I think we hold on to him, but I agree, that latest tweet is concerning. Big Ed and Coach Herman will reel him in though.
What makes him special is that he is very good at playing football. First time in the modern era a top 10 ranked recruit nationally committed to this program. Did you see him in the Under Armour All-American Game? Guy was an absolute force.
Tyrie latest tweet and retweeet are telling to me. "Thief In The Night" "Can't please everyone. It's my decision at the end of the day" Sounds like he is ready to change course to me but we shall see. All this recruiting got me back to playing NCAA FB dynasty.
I know this is football only, but former Coog Joseph Young has been playing pretty well last 2-3 games for the Pacers.
i dont blame him for leaving the program due to the way things went down with his dad, but cant say i care for him or any of those other dudes that transferred out before Sampson 1st season

A born leader with, power, speed and highly skilled. Looking forward to watching every single one of his games.

The cant please everyone tweet was a retweet that another Florida commit said about his decision...or so it seems. Either way if it's between him and Oliver we pretty much won that one already. Coogs killing it in recruiting. Looking forward to next season already.
