I would agree that u don't even acknowledge the mudslingers. All that does it keep the false accusations in the air. Deal with it on your terms. If you have contradicting evidence show it to discredit, but do it on your terms. You can't win he said she said arguments without direct evidence. Pointless. We prove that here each day. So tuck the pride as it's a no win situation, especially since the media will get the last word. I don't think he did himself any harm here. He made his point clear. But probably better not to go at it so aggressively.
On Ayers, one thing that really stood out to me this year was that on punt returns he seemed to have a light bulb go off with that stutter step. It worked more oft then not, and he almost went to it exclusively the entire year, gaining him big yards on returns. Patient. Make the first man miss, then go. He got really good at it. And I love when you see a player learn from trial and error, apply, and succeed.
Who did he lose "credibility" with that matters? Also, he wasn't just trying to set the record straight on this specific story, but he was also making Lopez realize that if he's going to spew BS about UH he was going to be called out on it.
I couldn't possibly answer that - which, again, is why he shouldn't go on the radio and pop off. It became a bit of a national story, right? (Deadspin linked to it, which is how i saw it.) Is being petty and immature an image he wants to sell to potential recruits (more importantly, their parents)? He had accomplished that with the press release - and we know that because it prompted Lopez to respond. He got what he wanted; he didn't need to sling mud with the pigs. Do you think that's how Urban Myer handles himself? Or Nick Saban? Bob Stoops?
"The image he wants to sell to potential recruits" is a huge part of what this is all about. His word to these young men (and their parents) means everything to him, and he's not going to let some POS like Lopez (who has popped off time after time about UH....on Herman's watch as well) tarnish the school and his program with MISinformation. "Hey coach, I hear the area the around the school/stadium is dangerous" says a potential recruit from Beaumont because **** that this dude is popping off about. Referring to UH as "Cougar high". Saban hasn't gotten into it with the media? Or Myer? All I've been reading and hearing about this from anyone associated with UH, recruits, recruits they're talking to (already committed or are considering UH), high school coach's, as well as the media (both locally and nationally) has been all positive. Like I said everyone else (including you) it doesn't matter what you think about Herman. Yes I am not just a fan, but an alum as well AND and if someone is spewing BS about the school/program that isn't true then they need to be called out on it (just as you feel the need to come to Bagwell's defense with people who aren't dealing with facts or flaming the fire of "I think he used PED's when there's no facts to support it). You obviously don't care about UH one way or another and that's fine, but to say what Herman did damaged his reputation or credibility with those that matter? You want to use Deadspin as an example. Ok HeyNow. Me and you are just going to have to disagree on this. He's not going to be able to win over everyone, and there will always be haters.

Isn't John Lopez an A&M alumn? He likely got his info from the horses mouth, a disgruntled Kevin Sumlin. A way to try and embarrass UH to potential recruits. UH is about to restore itself long term, and the programs who will lose out most on Houston talent will be Texas and Texas A&M.
Oh and I don't fault Kevin Sumlin one bit for possibly leaking the story, recruiting is a Nastry business, and a lot of coaches check their fair play at the door. Recruiting makes programs and lack of it fires coaches.
Sounds about right. Both parts of your post. What I've read is that Baylor is on board for pushing uh to the big 12. Recruits wanna play for winners so we're not worried. It would help out recruiting in Houston actually.

I understood that quote to be..."you never even bother coming out to our practices..." How did you understand it?
"Big 12 'likely' to be able to have championship game without expanding, per source" http://www.sbnation.com/college-foo...byu-cincinnati-houston-deregulation-proposals
It's still in the Big 12's interest to expand, but if they aren't smart enough to do that, you have to question if you even want to be a part of a conference that foolish. I think not expanding would just cause them to circle the drain more quickly.
