You always want to blow everyone out, and for everyone you play to blow out their other opponents as well.
It's not Sumlin's fault that other teams were interested in him. Yeah, no. That's cute, but doesn't prove any of your assertions.
I'd prefer they earn their top 25 status by blowing out the rest of their opponents, and not keeping the score competitive against us. It's all moot though, because at this point we have zero shot at the CFBPO. It's just about winning out and getting a NYD6 bowl.
If all you care about is the conference championship then they can lose to UConn and be okay it that's the only loss. If they lose to Memphis and beat Navy, they are in a 3-way tie. If they beat Memphis and lose to Navy, Navy most likely wins the AAC-West If they beat Memphis and Navy but lose to UConn, UH wins the AAC-West.
So, in scenario 2 (Beat Memphis/UConn, lose to Navy)... Navy almost assuredly goes because of criteria #6... unless they lose to Army, which would give UH the edge based on criteria #5.
If Navy beats UH (and SMU and Tulsa), they will be undefeated in the division so it wouldn't be a tie. The Army game wouldn't matter.
Oh right. Derp. Ok then, so basically win out or go to the Bob's Plumbing and Boiled Peanuts Bowl in Bumblescum, Alabama.
Do the same tiebreakers apply for home field in the conference championship game? Or is that based off CFP ranking?
http://247sports.com/PlayerInstitution/Tyrie-Cleveland-at-Westfield-80198/CurrentExpertPredictions crystal ball now points to houston now. if we get cleveland, and lark along with the other 2 wr's? man oh man
looking at the seating map for seats available, there's about 14 different sections with plenty of seats remaining in the 300 bowls. It's extremely difficult to completely sellout a UH game.
Right. I think even if we lose to UConn, beating Memphis, Navy, and Temple in the CCG would make us the highest rankedd G5 and we still go to a NY6. Preferably, we win out though.
Competition for entertainment dollars 70+ years of commuter culture A decade of absolute incompetence in all major sports (1991-2001) Casual fans not interested in G5 opponents Tradtionally older student body
That makes a lot of sense. I looked up the stadium and saw it only held 40K.. was shocked that y'all were saying its hard to sellout the stadium. I was born and raised in Houston, but I've never been an UH fan. Wasn't much of a college fan until I got to college. I think that probably ties in to there being competing professional teams so the school loses interest from residents living in the city.
Yep. This is Houston, not Lubbock. If the football team sucks and/or isn't entertaining, and I don't have an overwhelming loyalty to the school... I'm probably going to find another way to spend my time/money for 7 Saturdays a year. Granted, things have changed drastically in the last 10 years. UH has morphed into one of the largest "residential" colleges in the State and has been one of the most successful football programs in the country. You can never go back and recapture that lost generation of alumni/fans from the 90s, though. That remains the gaping hole in our fan base.
do you like football? do you like winning football? do you like college girls? do you like beer? if so, consider this an invitation to check out the game on saturday... that is if your team isn't playing
Yeah the opponents one of the main reasons why. If we scheduled Texas Tech like we did in 2009, then it will definitely sell out. that was the best UH game i've ever gone to, even weeks leading up to it was good. It was so many people there that they had to give wristbands to the students and people had to watch the game outside robertson. When we have bigger names on the schedule it will sell out. Still stupid IMO. You should go to every game if you are a fan of UH. not just when they play a big name like Texas, OU, and so on. The communter reason is the 2nd biggest. Plenty of stuff to do in Houston on a saturday night and not everyone in houston a UH alumni. When you have to share a city with Rice, TSU, and HBU then it makes it a little hard. Plus Rockets and Astros might have a game on the same day. All In all it's still a stupid excuse not to go to the games.
