Arroyo will not come if he is playing behind Barry. He is average 30 min in Utah and is look forward to play 35 min at least.
Bateer was bothered by injury last season thus it was waived. He is 100% now. He actually scored 9 points in the 10 minutes of time to spare Yao and only have 1 foul. His weakness is his foul trouble (He probably lead the league in foul per min). He is probably the only guy in the league that can hold his ground against Shaq. We saw it from the final that even Ben Wallace does not have a chance againist Shaq. I remember I watched a game between Denver and Minnesota. Gary Trent got a technical foul because he was frustrated that Bateer bullied him since he usually is the person who bullies others. It is very funny.
Arroyo is the guy that I want running our team. This guys is the 2nd coming of John Stockton, but more athletic. He had some a nice season this year, including a couple nice games versus SF. I think $4MM per year is reasonable for 3 years. I'd be surprised if the Jazz offered more...
I wouldn't say he can hold his ground against Shaq. No one can, but he'll come close because of his bulk and strength. He used to bully Yao back in the CBA. But he definitely deserves some PT in this league with his size and shooting.
You will be surprised, but I won't. The Jazz has $30 millions to spend. It is already hard to find FAs to come to Utah, and if they let other team take away their own player, there will be riot in Salt Lake City. The Jazz had to give up a 20 years old Pavlovic (who lit us up last year here in Houston) to the expansion draft to the Bobcats, and their GM took tons of heat for that. I doubt he'll let Arroyo sign with other teams, unless with totally outrageous terms.
Well you scared me off. The last player I heard a fan describe as the second coming of John Stockton was Matt Maloney. Call me superstitious but...
That's pretty much my ideal right there, Sir Jackie... and if the Rockets want it to happen, I think they can make it happen. paxil... someone else mentioned how when JVG brought in Piatkowski that the 2 and 3 spots were almost interchangable in his system, so if we got those guys I think the rotation would look like this: PG: Arroyo, Lue SG: Barry, McGrady SF: McGrady, Jackson PF: Howard, Taylor C: Yao, Howard I'm hoping that looks something like the 8-man rotation management is shooting for, and in this situation Arroyo would have no complaints about minutes, only being relieved by Lue when necessary. Then we sign a scrub center for when we really need more size than Howard's 6'10, 260-pound frame for the vet minimum, and take Boki off the bench when we need another small forward. It works, and we've got the assets to make it happen.
Great, even if Boki improves on his jumpshot next season, and keeps on getting better in his hustle and defense, still no room for em. Considering JVG's tight rotation method, no way Boki gets anymore PT next year or a chance to show what he can really do with more minutes of game flow with Brent switching from PG to back up SG, JJ switching from SF to back up SG, T-mac switching from SG to back up SF. Unless of coures, Piatkowski sucks again, and A. Griffin doesn't show anything worth noting. I'd rather, we use JJ less and rest him more, we completely over used him to the point of exhuastion last year, that he couldn't play as well in the postseason. Brent, Arroyo, Lue T-mac, Brent, Boki, Piatkowski JJ, T-mac, Boki, Padjett, A griffin Howard, Mo, Padjett Yao
the rockets should evaluate gaines first, afterall, he was the 15th pick. if he might be good they should get barry or snow or whoever's not named fisher so gaines can step in 3 years down the road. if gaines is no good then go for arroyo or hudson or some other young pg. given gaines' college career, we know he at least has a nice level of skill at the point - just if he can adjust to the NBA.
yeah i'd give gaines a chance. Hope he gets a chance to prove himself. And i agree also with making at least some room for boki. If we want him to eventually do something other than hustle, we should let him at least come early off the bench like 6th or 7th man.
Never stopped Allen Iverson. Technically, Allen Iverson can't catch and shoot, can't as in, being capable of draining such a shot consistently. But, like Allen, it shouldn't stop Steve from jacking em up anway. Nothing like 26pts a game at a 40% clip.
I should have mentioned that if they don't plan to move Mobley or make Francis their SG then I completely agree with you. It would make no sense for them to pursue Arroyo.
Actually this one makes sense to me, I bet they could get Ostertag. He'd only be getting Yao's off minutes (15 maybe). Probably won't cost much more than the veteran's minimum. It would give them a banger and size. A.Griffin is a big maybe in this equation, if he comes back healthy he could make a good backup SF. It wouldn't surprise me if Padgett got invited back also. Lue, Gaines and A.Griffin would bounce off the injured list, depending on who'd JVG would want.
