Garcia would be my top free agent choice to replace Carr -- this is of course out of the realistic free agents out there. Garcia's mobility will offset some of our O-line woes and the fact he played so well last season seals the deal.

What the hell is going on? Now ESPN news said the Plummer deal went through with the Bucs. They have Garcia and Plummer now?

Looks like both Hillboy AND MadMax might be right: Carr will be back and will start, and the Texans will draft Brady Quinn to replace him.

No thanks. Let Plummer stay retired. I'd rather draft a qb (Quinn) and let Sage just start the 07 season.

Looks like the Texans are going to be forced into having Carr as the starter. You don't have $8mill backups. And cutting him is a waste.

WOW...did Tim Pupura and Rick Smith go to same crappy school of General Managing???

Yeah, cause after all Rick Smith mind-melded with Charlie and forced him to extend Carr. What exactly are you blaming Smith for, extending Carr (which he didn't), not trading for Plummer (which would have cost the team draft picks it could scarcely afford to lose), not signing Garcia (I doubt the Texans were in the running in the first place), or not trading Carr (kinda hard to trade QB1 when you don't have a definite plan to replace him already in motion)? Since this isn't an Astros thread, I won't even bother with the implication that Pupura is a "crappy" GM.

Please, continue with whatever it was you were doing.

The Texans will take Kevin Kolb in the third round.

That is my final answer, Regis.

Maybe the Vikes or Browns will give up their #4 for him. Its still early so a trade can still happen...... I hope :D

Maybe Tampa's main plan is to trade for Carr. It seems odd that they have both Plummer and Garcia. Perhaps there is a chance that they trade a pick and Plummer for Carr....?

Trade Plummer AND a pick for Carr when they already have to give up a conditional pick in next year's draft to get Plummer in the first place? The Bucs must REALLY want Carr if that deal went through.

More likely they're trying to squeeze the Texans. If I'm Rick I call up the Bucs and say, "You've got 3 QBs and Plummer. If Plummer retires, you've given up a pick for nothing. If he plays you've got a $5.3 million backup who's not likely to renegotiate his contract. We've still got Carr and Sage if David gets banged up or fails to produce AND we'll probably get a shot at Quinn in the draft if we want him. But, since I'm feeling generous, I'll do you a favor. Here's a 7th for Plummer. It's the best offer you're going to get from us. Take it or leave it. By the way, my tee time is in 45 minutes and I don't like taking calls while I'm on the course." See if TB blinks.

we don't have big shoes to fill here. every QB in Den has to play in the shadow of Elway.
our next QB plays in the shadow of DC, assuming he actually casts one.
