The only player i can think of is grant hill, as he was the go to player in detroit before all his injuries. Now he is a decent role player for phoenix

His trade value this year because of his contract has always been....HIS CONTRACT.

No one would gut their team to trade for him unless they are looking to start over, and the better teams could not trade their better players to get him because he could walk at the end of the year.

Whether TMac played great or crap, his trade value would remain, the expiring contract.

Not bad, but he was not a dominate the ball guy and always a system guy in Detroit too....

I am talking about a volume scorer who remade themselves into an efficient team player.

AI, Tmac, Marbury...to name 3....all failed once their skills began declining.

Whatever. You want McGrady traded to another western conference team so you can see him play 15 minutes against Houston instead of 8? I'm not sure if I'm missing the message behind your original post, but that doesn't sound like the words of a Rockets fan to me.

clearly you never watch grant hill. he was the ultimate point forward where the ball was always in his hands.

also, never include marbury in the conversation with iverson and tmac. marbury was never considered a top 10 player in his career.

The true litmus test of one's feelings about McGrady is...look at McGrady merchandise.

Forget all Clutchfans comments, erase that crap out the mind. Look at a McGrady bobblehead, card, jersey, figurine, etc. Regardless of what this board says about McGrady lovers, I'll bet 3 out 4 McGrady FANS wouldnt even try to buy the items cuz feelings are so mixed. That you actually took the chance.....

I can't see how Adelman can justify bringing McGrady back in after the two-game "rest". After all, having Tracy come in and out of the lineup is what Adelman and Morey said they wanted to avoid. But having him play six games, skip two, and come back for who knows how many sounds like exactly that.

Morey has his work cut out for him. No GM is going to give up much for McGrady now.

I would park him on the bench until July before I would negotiate a buyout, or trade him for scraps. I am tired of the drama like everyone else, but McGrady's expiring contract is such a big trade asset that getting all emotional about his attitude, or his feelings and getting rid of him just for the sake of it would be counterproductive. Neither McGrady, nor Adelman could be here next year, so doing something just to make either of them feel better in the short term doesn't help the team moving forward.

    Marbury

    Tmac

    Iverson

All 3 guys that have had significant issues changing from a dominate the ball guy to one that plays within the team concept.

None of them doing well in making that transition.

Injuries and father time catch up to all .....

Thank you, thank you, thank you, that's what I'm saying. If you're not going to improve his minutes past 8 minutes or whatever because you can't figure out how to fit him in to the system, just say so or don't play him at all and say that. I don't like the whole "when he's ready", "so it doesn't affect the team", etc. etc. He is ready, apparently, and it will affect the team no matter what, and I don't want that. But here's the deal, I hear a lot of "we don't want it to affect team chemistry and team play, etc" and "he can't play in a team setting" and "he can't go from being a star with the ball to playing with a team", BUT, what about when the team isn't doing it? What about when we're not moving the ball? What about when nobody can hit an open shot to save their life? What's wrong with putting him in then? I don't see how it can hurt then...but I'm sure somebody will tell me how.

Tracy is just treated as some kind of team-killing machine and to be honest, I just haven't seen that yet. There was a game where he kinda dominated the ball for a few minutes but he scored like 8 points in a few minutes. When he got off the court, the team went back to normal and everything wasn't destroyed...

I don't know, at this point, I just want him gone. I'm tired.

Again not a guy who dominated the ball.

Grant is close, but he was always a good off the ball player.

I am talking about a guy who plays on the ball.......remaking himself into an off the ball player?

Micro-fracture surgery dude. Its not has easy has it sounds. We has fans only read and guess what happens. Nobody knows what McGrady is feeling but himself. RA dealt with it with C-Webb and look how his career ending. Why go through that and rush a great player back only just to mess up his career.

    Yes, I get that.

But no Rockets' personnel has come out and said that McGrady has not been up to snuff with his performance DUE TO his surgery.

More than anything, it is personality that the Rockets are worried about.

If it HAD been the fact that the surgery is hindering Mac's performance, wouldn't people say that, instead of saying nothing?
