That's different, AI refused to come off the bench. He made the decision not to play, same with the Grizzlies.

I love TMAC's attempt ay JVG DoubleTalk

"I will do what they say . . i ain't rocking the boat .. but I should be playing .. I can play . . . they know it and should be playing me. . but I don't blame them for being cautious . . even though I feel I am 100% . . .they trying to do what is right but . . .I know I can help the team and we can win . . but they want me to take is slow and I ain't going to buck the system . . .even though I am well enough to play and should be playing" - TMAC double talk

That's true as well. The thing is to find a ballance between both sides.

Of course, what has Tracy done in these 6 games to warrant more playing time?

Has he been hustling all over the floor - no

Has he been knocking down shots - no

Has he been piling up assists - no

Has he been rebounding like mad - no

What exactly has the guy done to warrant more playing time?

let's use the same damn stat a lot of you use it against mcgrady

    since tracy has returned:

    denver -15
    dallas -8
    oklahoma +5
    clippers +4
    orlando -23

trevor may try to play defense, doesn't mean his defense has been any better. and his pathetic offense outweighs whatever he does on the floor at this point. he's actually HURTING us when he's on the floor since he has returned outside of the thunder game.

    so stop drinking that haterade.

if i was jocking mcgrady, i wouldn't advocate SITTING HIM OUT UNTIL HE'S TRADED.

arguing with you is like arguing with my ex-gf who whines all the damn time and never listen.

(I would not assume that. It could be that the seven- to eight-minute thing was just an experiment, maybe even a concession to his wishes at the time. Adelman said at the time he would go that way through Christmas and then consider what to do next. But I am also surprised they did not stick with the routine before considering changes when we return to Houston. -- Jonathan)

(I'm not sure why he is sitting out, other than a sense that the short stint of playing time wasn't moving him closer to more playing time. He is represented by Arn Tellem and Bob Myers. -- Jonathan)

    that's interesting

I don't think T-mac has been better than Ariza at this point. Yeah Ariza has been very inconsistent this year but really in T-mac's 8 minutes he hasn't done much. Especially not enough to say he's outplaying Ariza. He still looks needs to improve his defense if he wants to get more playing time.

At this point a trade is best for T-mac and the organization. A bridge has been burnt and I doubt the relationship between Tracy and the organization can be healed at this point.

FAIL - I am not using that at all.

I am watching him play and seeing how he fits in, whether he runs up and down the court and hustles, whether he plays within the offense and defense.

The +/- stat is kind of silly really....because it depends on whom you are playing with, whom you are playing against, and not really that useful unless there is a TON of data with player combinations.

Considering released excerpts from players in that Art of Basketball book being released, not a lot of players out there feel love for T-Mac either. Good players will want to come to Houston for a variety of reasons. Let me list a few for you guys:

    - Houston and Texas has a great standard of living
    - There is no state income tax in TX so that means you keep a lot more money if you play in Houston
    - Les is a great owner and will put out cash to get talent if it means a higher chance to win a ring
    - Houston has a solid group of GREAT role players that other players can
    - RA is a proven winner as a coach and DM is easily the NBA's best GM
    - With 40 million on the pine, Rockets have a winning record after completing the hardest schedule in the NBA.

Yet, he competed hard defensively against Detroit, did a solid job against Melo/Dirk, scored 10 points in one game, and really only looked poor against Orlando. The guy played no more than 8 minutes in any game. How the hell is he supposed to wrack up all the stats. He hasn't played in nearly over a year..if he tried to go out for all those stats, then you'd be the same person to bash him for trying to stat pad.

Ariza does none of those things you mentioned, yet he's one of the NBA's league leaders in minutes played. I know you don't like Ariza either, but your reasoning is clearly flawed, and wrong.

The only thing I agree with, is that he should go. He's worn out his welcome here, and his tenure with Houston is done. Trade him ASAP, and end the distraction.

How is it again that no one on this board gives you rep for some of stuff you dish? I would if I could. Always very interesting insight.

Can we give him like 15 mins so he can get into rhythm? Just try it out.. If still no production I agree.

And I'm tired of the people that want him to play within the system, but then go and want him to score a lot and get a lot of assist.

This is the way players need to be dealt with. They are employees of the Owner, GM and Coach. They are not the boss. I am thrilled to see management taking control and setting the tone. This is long overdue in the Rockets organization and in sports in general. Morey is running the ship the right way across the board, this man is a true leader!

Why exactly is McGrady being benched these next two games?

Sure, we're facing the Nets, but then a good test - the Cavs.

Has McGrady done/said something to tick off the Rockets' brass?

Great question. What is the point of him sitting out?

They have just had 2 DAYS OFF and one FULL PRACTICE. A lot of time to figure out a lot of things.

Ok,lets take a step back for a few minutes and take a deep breath.

I feel like this whole situation with McGrady has many similarities to the situation the Astros had with Brad Lidge. Both players for their respective organizations did alot of good for the team. Both players had injuries that they tried to play through and suffered because of it. I feel that both players fell out of favor with their organizations because of attitude and/or performance.
The solution is a fresh start for all parties involved. The rockets have a much better front office then the astros and alot more options to work with whether it's a trade scenario or through free agency.Unlike the astros it will not take much to turn the rockets into a serious contender for a championship next year and possibly even this year if a trade is immenent.
I have no ill feeling towards McGrady and sincerely hope he has a productive and prosperous career on another team.Maybe in a perfect world he could land on a team that in the next year or two the rockets would face in the finals.Wouldn't that be something to talk about.
The rockets organization has made mistakes and so has McGrady.I trust in the management to make the right choices and to move forward and continue to make the rockets a better team.
