Somebody should have bought Shemac some Barney video's for christmas, so he could sing the "I Love You" song to himself and only himself. What a turd.

I think they want to just use this year to build their young players (rookies and D-Leaguers included). They aren't aiming for the playoffs per say, thus their handling of T-Mac is ok with them.

That's the sense I get, especially with Ariza's continued scoring role.

Exactly...and the playoffs would be a bonus.......

This way, when Yao gets back they explode into championship contender.

At least that is the hope.

    He sure is....

I mostly agree. I think it is hard for him to be a role player, even a "role player on steroids." He just doesn't fit in well here, because the team concept is so strong here; he doesn't add to this team. On another team, he would be more valuable, plus draw fans.

I also want to say, a lot of it is on the other players. They need to forget that he's T-Mac, and they can't do it.

considering we're a huge chance of getting home court advantage, you'd HAVE to think that we're a massive chance of making the 2nd round.

we've got 1 loss more than the 4th placed Suns, and have had a nightmare schedule thus far.
You watch us go 10-4 in Jan; 8-3 in Feb; 11-5 in Mar and 5-3 in Apr. that's 50 wins even if we lose all 4 remaining December games... imo we're looking at 52-30 - I think that'll be good for 4th seed.

I don't know whats going to happen with Tracy, but the team has to get a legit two. When Yao comes back I would assume he's still the guy. I should preface what I'm about to say with I love Brooks, Landry, etc. But I don't think they will ever be superstars in this league. Really good role players, absolutely. But who's the other guy next year? Ariza? Magic 8ball says, not f'n likely.

I'm just going to say that I'm going to pop a couple bottles of champagne when this saga finally ends.

If the Rockets are 100% committed to trading McGrady, why should they compromise? 8 minutes per game in one stint is enough to showcase him while minimizing the chance he hurts himself.

I agree Ariza looks like a fish out of water trying to be a "go to" player and throwing up shots he has no business taking. But the Rockets aren't going anywhere as a team this season anyway. They are figuring out which current players will be in their future plans.

they told him if he wanted more minutes he has to earn them... he didnt want to, so he's out of the rotation. seems pretty fair to me.

JT deserves more time anyway. he's looked pretty good in limited minutes. aggressive, athletic... all the things that we had hoped for tmac to return with.

at the end of OT during our first game against the lakers this year, what happened? we didn't even get a shot off and we lost the game.

at the end of regulation during our 3rd game against the mavericks this year, what happened? we didn't get a shot off and the game went to OT

you would be stupid to think tmac wouldn't help this team at all. we need a closer.

tmac draws so much attention and he can kick it out to an open shooter for a good look. that's one reason his assist total per year is pretty high for a "volume shooter." people who do not understand the game of basketball fail to realize this.

Eh, I disagree. Amazingly, we're 17-12 and on pace to the make the playoffs. I don't think any GM or coach in their right might would squander an opportunity at postseason play just to develop their young talent. Especially if people start implying that we should tank or whatever -- a completely bogus concept because not only does it not guarantee anything but Morey has demonstrated quite the ability to be a talent sniper later in the draft.

I really think management thinks we can be a better team without Tracy in the picture. I disagree but I'll accept whatever decision they make.

    A. He is no longer that guy

    B. He didn't close all that effectively

    C. Brooks is our closer - he is learning on the job.

we don't know if he is no longer that guy. we just need to give him one last chance and see what he can do and giving him 8 minutes a game in the 1st quarter only does not classify as "one last chance."

I don't mean to insult Tracy, not at all, but it's like the difference between training a human and training a dog.

If you're training a person to do a job, and they miss a major part of what you want them to learn, you probably only spend a little time trying to explain what you need. You expect them to understand. If they don't pick it up, you fire them and bring in somebody else.

With Tracy, the Rox are asking him to go against character, and again, they are asking his teammates to forget he is T-Mac. They know they don't have his talent, and never will, and it is hard for them to see him as a role player.

When your dog doesn't understand that he has to sit by the door before you open it to let him out, you can't just explain it to him. You have to keep saying, "Sit!", and not open the door until the dog sits.

I'm not meaning to insult Tracy's intelligence; I'm just saying that what they want is a little bit murky, they don't have a lot of confidence that everybody is going to get it, and they have to teach it a very little bit at a time.

    Wow. I am speechless.

It is unbelivable. It is obvious the Rockets don't want him anymore and Tracy doesn't want to play either.

End it. It's time to end it quietly.

I really HOPE a trade is going to happen during this weekend. Just trade the guy.

7-8 minutes in a couple games is not enough to showcase him. Not even close. He's still in 'Marbury territory' where teams saw his ginormous expiring contract but didn't want to risk destroying their season for a player that very well could have nothing left in the tank. Teams backed off, he got the buyout from NY and subsequently proved to the world once he signed in Boston that he's just about done as a player. A post-microfracture McGrady is in that same boat. Teams will want to see whether or not he can play before they risk destroying their seasons by forking over $20M+ worth of talent for a player that might not even play.

I'll concede that 7-8 minutes in a couple of games is better than nothing at all. At least when he played everyone saw he seems to be moving well, looks pain-free and overall seems to still have "it" as a player. That helps. Is it enough to stop the Eddy Curry and Sam Dalmebert offers from pouring in, though? Probably not.

why do we need to give him one last chance?

the guy quit on the team last year. there are no more chances after that.
