[Houston Chronicle] John Lopez to join Vandermeer on 610 morning show

ohhh Man. Totally forgot about Russ Small. That guy totally sucked.


John Lopez totally sucks. 610 is falling apart. Still not sure why they got rid of Danny Vera.


I'm pretty close to jumping to the 1560 bandwagon. I'm a registered member of their forum. Russ Small sucks. I rather take Craig Roberts than John Lopez. I'm thinking about taking Lesbian Craig Shelton instead of John Lopez, and I think Lesbo Craig sucks ass.

I think I will give them instant feedback everyday that John Lopez sucks.

 

A list of the changes at 610 thus far(due to new program director from Dallas):

-Ware left a few months back to do more CFB on ESPN but still calls the Texans games with Marc
-Clanton filled in for him on the morning show and also did the ACE(Adam Clanton Experience) from 10-11
-Got rid of the Sunday Block Party
-Clanton just left about 2-3 weeks ago to focus more on TV duties at Local 2
-Sporting News Radio, which was on from 9- whenever?(early morning?), went to 1560.
-When Clanton left, Vandermeer went from 6am-11am, doing the show with Robert Henslee the first week and Adam Wexler ever since.
-Matt & Rich extended and now go from 2-7 (to make up the lost time I assume from SNR)
-Wexler as I said was doing the morning show with Marc, with Shaun Bijani(sp?) and Rob Costa I think it was doing the nightshift.
-The nightshift also extended going from 7-11
-Sports Byline USA(new show, somewhat similar to SNR) goes from 11 until I dont know when because I didnt listen to it.
-John Lopez now comes in filling in for Andre(& Clanton) so they'll go from 6-10am with Lopez maybe getting his own show like Clanton got from 10-11? or maybe they'll(MV & JL) go from 6-11am, with Rome from 11-2, Rich & Matt from 2-7pm and Wexler back to doing the nightshift from 7-11pm

But like many of you said, things went from bad to worse. Bad move on 610's part.

 

Here goes my remaining street cred: I actually like Lopez because he speaks his mind. That said, I won't listen to him much because I listen to 1560 in the morning.
It'll be interesting to see if he'll continue to call out the Texans for sucking now that he's a part of the official Texans station and teamed with the mighty voice of the Texans.

 

Don't expect musch from the morning show since Vandermeer is felating the Texans and Lopez is teabagged by A&M football.

 

Just when 610 became listenable again with Wex in there they bring in Lopez. Who the hell is running that channel anyway, and why do they keep jerking Wex around?

 

can't wait the irony of John Lopez doing the "2 Min Drill" after all the crap the "Monsters of the Midday" gave 610 for copying their "Lighting Round"

John Lopez isn't bad, but there are so many other options out there. Lopez was better than Deluca, Deluca sometimes made me laugh cause he misses a lot of information that is just flat out wrong.

I'm with Kam, they should bring Danny Vera back, I enjoyed when Vera and Wexler before he was let go beginning of the year, it was up par with MattJ/Wexler

 

610 should go ahead and pair up Lopez and Rich Lord together so that the average listener only has to ignore 1 show instead of 2. Those 2 guys really deserve each other.

Are 610's program directors really this dense? Lopez was the single reason I couldn't stand 790 and I haven't even bothered to tune to that station for ages.

 

I'd say there's a difference between speaking your mind and being a sensationalist who jumps to conclusions just to sound controversial. The latter is the impression I get from Lopez.

 

What's 790 going to do about the monsters show?

Suddenly, local radio for Houston between 11 am-1 pm is very light.

 

There is alot of people slobbin' on 1560's knob @ CF.net...

I personally thought John and Lance were 100 times better when they were at 610 because their was structure to their show.

I put them on sometimes but never hear anything related to sports, which i enjoy sometimes, but I listen to sports stations to hear their takes on current events in sports, not the world at large.

But im a little bit biased i suppose because 610 does help pay my rent...

 

how come these program directors don't care about what the listeners want? i don't get it. nobody likes lopez and nobody likes rich lord. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

i will be listening exclusively to 1560 until changes are made. i like matt jackson and wex. i hope they move over to 1560.

John Lopez? Now when John and Lance get a little off track on their show or they are at commercial I won't have anyone to turn over to...

 

We say nobody likes Rich but reportedly he does well in the ratings dept.

Completely agree. LOVED John and Lance when they were on 610 and cannot stand listening to them on 1560. However, my dislike of John Lopez overrides my distaste of their completely unstructured mess of a show on 1560.

 

Houston sports radio in general is just sub-par at best now. Even with Andre Ware (zero insight on ANYTHING not football related...and even then, it's sketchy) and Adam Clanton (he was on fire when he first started, but he got worse and worse as his wedding got closer. Plus, he was WAY too obsessed with the text messages. It's a RADIO show, dude....stop telling us about the messages you can't say on the air) gone, there's just not much talent going around. Obviously, as many have stated, the only people worth their salt are Wexler, Jackson, Palilo, and Dalati. Everyone else is a wanker.

 

I moved up to Dallas a couple years ago and I was amazed by how the Ticket is. I still listen to Houston radio to try to get some talk about my sports teams but I'm always underwhelmed. I'd almost rather listen to guys on the Ticket talk about the Cowgirls than listen to Houston radio. Almost.

I havent really listened to 1560 tho so I can't comment on that.

 

False...Would give up 1st born to work mornings with Wex and my wife is pregnant. Satan are you listening? j/k
