Wow, no b****ing and complaining. Players excited to learn. Sounds like good chemistry is already brewing. Have to love those veterans!

I like the idea of having Howard scrimmage at C vs Yao. IMHO, athletic. mobile defenders with lower centers of gravity gave Yao more trouble than the taller, traditional centers. (The uniqueness of Shaq being the obvious exception).

There are many examples but Yao having more trouble with Lo Wright than Tsakalidis and Boozer more than Ilguaskas come to mind quickly.

Being genuine...I really like the quotes we're hearing from the team. I've always felt they were going to struggle early to learn some of Van Gundy's rotations and to get 8 new players on the same page (and that was before Sura's injury). Hopefully, their optimism will buoy them through a tough first 6 weeks regular season schedule!

This is great news. This kind of start establishes the attitude the players will have for the rest of the season. They have respect for the coach and respect for the way they're being asked to play.

Can anyone doubt the improvement of Yao's conditioning looking at that picture. Keep in mind that Juwan is listed as 6'9 and 206 lbs. Yao dwarfs him.

JuanValdez is happy to see we have a player who talks of himself in the third person.

Actually, we'll be rockin' on Sunday:

For the first time in Houston sports history, all three of our pro sports teams will be playing in Houston on the same day:

    Astros: against the Atlanta Braves
    Texans: against the Minnesota Vikings
Rockets: against the Miami Heat (preseason)

... and on a side note: Yao Ming looks friggin' huge

All we need is these guys to buy into JVG's system and we are playoff bound if not more... This is a great start!

That's assuming the Astros don't sweep the Braves in three games. :D

The wild thing is that they all start at different times so you could literally watch all of them. The Texans are a noon start. The Astros - supposedly - have a 3pm start. And the Rockets are at 7pm.

You could literally GO to all three. The Texas to Astros thing might be tough, but you could walk to Toyota Center after the Minute Maid game.

There could be as many as 150,000 spectators at pro sporting events in Houston Sunday. Probably won't reach that number, but it WILL be over 100,000.

    Great scheduling!!!

Look at the guns on Yao!!!

He has really been pumping the iron in the offseason. His legs look bigger to from all the running. And look how thick his upper torso looks, Falsone has really been working his butt off...
His calfs are as big as Juwan's thighs.....lol
Man if he can maintain and improve his conditioning every year he is going to be a beast in short time....

The ClutchBBS needs more men like thegary and JuanValdez.... and m_cable. I mean, how can m_cable cheer on his team without speaking like m_cable's team. It cannot be done, m_cable says.

When the Rockets overhauled the roster I was afraid that we wouldn’t be able to have that same camaraderie that the old team had. It really felt like a family. But it looks like they’re off to a good start at creating that same solidarity with the new roster.

By playoff time this team could be scary; I know it is early and I know there are many questions, but it is hard not to be very optimistic. I like what I am hearing. If this team has "chemistry," it could take off sooner than latter. I can hardly wait. This is an intelligent group and it feels so good to say that.

These natural beach's tan don't stay with you!

BTW, it looks like a block on Yao. He needs to
    1) Not lean into the offensive player.
    2) Turn the toe of the left foot in and slide sideway with the offensive player instead of stepping into his path.

I remember Yao's rookie season, guys like Howard were pushing him all over the paint.

    Now Yao is the punisher.

I am not an expert on that but I thought it would stay for a little longer. By the way, we are not having a debate. So save the '!'.
