Almost as bad as reading the HuffPost comments, talking about right wing, bible thumping, gun toting neanderthals....
LOL, "why so defensive?" and where did I call you a racist? That's obviously what da1 and many others think around here for 'some reason'. But they're just haters Tex, I'm sure you're a ACLU member with a lot of 'black friends'...amirite?
Twitter can literally can be a "comments" section to itself without the articles. And Youtube is pretty bad too, even with the "real name" use. People depressingly suck. I don't even consider myself a conservative, but the whole "Support Anything NON-"Traditional" Masculinity", frankly its just getting old. But thats for another thread.
I think its linked ENOUGH to mental illness, too. I first noticed that element in CLUTCHFANS actually (sadly). Even including myself, maybe it takes one to know one.. About giving doubt to assholes and its link to illness: (Example: Some recurring CF themes like "McGrady bashing" -) I don't think you can CONSTANTLY be AN AGITATOR and be AN ANTAGONIST and thread foil non-stop, and pretend like its "just ordinary". There's a "bug" in there somewhere making people THAT 1-dimensional insufferable. I don't think most the net trolls real life persona matches their online persona. But would figure there'd still be some other things subtle or on the surface thats indicitive enough of it.
I definitely think there is certainly mental issues going on with people like that.. then again, maybe there are just A-holes in the world. However, the security of the keyboard certainly allows people to be more confident in their opinions, whether it's some mental/insecurity they have or just a good old fashioned jerk.
I don't understand what you'll are talking about. The admins over at the Chronicle basically block almost every single semi-controversial post before I even get a chance to read it. I wade through some of those comments and comment after comment has been "blocked by our staff". It's like they have a staff of twenty people who have nothing better to do than browse and block comments that they disagree with even to the slightest degree even if not controversial. I've been blocked and could not understand why...other than one of their staff just didn't like my opinion. Then, you try and post later...and that is blocked. Then, you have no idea how long you are blocked for and then, suddenly, you are able to post again. It's like an insane asylum over there.
