    that is not the point

don't claim he is a Genius for bringing us back to the playoffs
when it is just because our players got healthy

If we make the playoffs some folx will claim he is coach of the year
and he is what he is

The Rockets IMO will play well from here out IMO
    because they healthy

I am not sure if I agree with everything OMR said. But he has a point. JVG always claims that the talent level of NBA teams are pretty even; and that the difference between winning and losing is effort and sticking to the system. If he is using this claim to motivate players, that's fine. If he really believes it, he is clearly wrong. Talent (apart from coaching) is VERY important for winning.

Why does a coach tell his players that effort, not talent, is the decisive factor? Because he (and they) can influence their effort but not their talent.

The GM knows that talent is just as decisive, if not moreso. But there's zero point in the coach saying that to the players. Believing that talent is decisive makes your team slack off if it's talented, or give up if it isn't.

It's really not more complicated than that.

Also, if all the teams in the league have nearly an equal amount of talent, and you take away the two most talented players from on of said teams, then that team will obviously be far behing all of the other teams in terms of talent. JVG never said all of the players were equally talented.
